Off to a slow start this season
Just haven't had much of an urge to hunt with the hot weather we've had this fall. Didn't even squirrel hunt the opening day (and haven't hunted yet). With some cooler weather the past few days I decided to get the old Phoenix out and make sure it was still as deadly as ever. Went to the farm I hunt...

OT - just checking in
Stopped by to catch up on reading & check in to let everyone know I'm still alive & kickin'. Had a bit of a medical scare this summer that started with an ear infection and also spread to an eye causing corneal ulcers and a bit of a loss of vision. The eye infection was cleared up in a few w...

Re: I am so angry, frustrated and unhappy
Sorry to hear the news. Prayers for her family, and I hope the small donation I made will help them in what I am sure will be difficult times.

Re: OT - No call making for a while
Thanks for the wishes for a speedy recovery! Went back to the eye doctor yesterday and the vision is improving, but still a long way to go. I ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses to (hopefully) let me do more outdoors since the sensitivity to light is still a big problem. No contacts until it i...

OT - No call making for a while
Sorry folks, but all call making is on hold for now. I have had a bit of bad luck in that an ear infection somehow spread to infect one eye and I have developed a corneal ulcer. My eye doctor has high hopes we can clear it up with no permanent vision damage, but it could take weeks or months to cure...

Re: Pressure Canning
Super easy recipe is 1 bullion cube per qt, 1/2-1 tsp canning salt for deer. Simple and tasty. I've been doing it this way for several years now. Lost 2 freezers full of food in 3 years (2 different freezers quit working and I didn't catch it until the contents were ruined). I went to pressure cann...

Re: excaliber wolverine
Would love to see some pictures of the bow It was a compound I believe is that correct? The Wolverine was the first split limb model Bill T. made. Wood stock & carved tip limbs. I believe it was a 150# bow. By split limb, I mean split in the center for the riser to use 2 limbs - not the old 1 p...

Re: What is wrong with these people?
Hunting shows for the most part are nothing but reality shows for hunters where very little is to be believed. Sort of like politics, 99% smoke and mirrors and 1% real. :eusa-hand: The hyperventilating is there for you to see that they are excited :eusa-liar: Why cant they be like fishing shows and...

Norm,
I can't make it to Boofest in the foreseeable future (until the wife retires), but the temptation of fine cigars makes it even more alluring.

Re: OT - laminate deer calls
The reed can be adjusted for several settings to cover everything from a fawn bleat to a buck grunt.
A grunt can be a great call at the right time of the year, but can also be the wrong call at other times.
