Re: O T Blk Jack Oak
In my 63 years, I had never heard of Black Oak until I moved to Tennessee. My back area has about 300 trees, mostly Red Oak, White Oak, Hickory, and Maple. The largest are Black Oak and all have carpenter ants in or around them. About 5 years ago, we had one about 24" across blow down in a wind...

Re: my new arrow wraps
Nice looking wraps, I'm still using the bright colors with neon vanes. I too gave up on Goat Tuff, vanes just would not stick. Vanes were coming off on deer shots and would come off with the slightest pressure on the side. Went to Gorilla glue and have had no problems at all, vanes will not pull off.

Re: looking for a good ground blind need opinions
I got an $80 5 sided Hub blind from Sportsman's Guide. It has more shoot through windows than I'll ever use. Very well made. They did have a video of it on their web site. Plenty big enough for 2 people or lots of stuff. I can't see paying 3 or 4 times that for a "Big Name" blind.

Re: Little Josey our 3rd Rescue
We got our 2nd beagle from SOS Beagle Rescue about 5 weeks ago. "Buddy" is 11 months old and a pure joy! With so many dogs needing homes, rescue is the only way to go.

Re: Looking into getting a climbing tree stand
Another vote for the Summit. I have the Viper, very comfortable! :D If you get a chance, put each one on your shoulders to see which one you prefer to carry. I'd hunt my Viper more if I didn't have to haul it, but then I'm not as strong as most guys. X2...With the Ultimate SS you get the wrap-aroun...

Re: Best Sling for an Excalibur Axiom?
I don't find it any more slippery than a regular nylon sling. I have one on all my rifles, some are long enough to put one arm and my head through the sling and carry crossed on my back. That way, the rifle is snug against my back and does'nt move. When just over the shoulder, I grip the sling. I've...

Re: Best Sling for an Excalibur Axiom?
Sorry about delayed response, have'nt been on in a while. A 40" sling will take about 88 feet doing a Wide Solomon Bar weave.Bullzeye wrote:Sopchoppy wrote:Made my own out of paracord, like the look and it works for me.
How many feet did it take , about 80 - 90 ft ???

I got the 10" wraps from Onestringer.....cut 'em in half....a 5" wrap is plenty long enough and you get twice as many wraps.

Most commercial smokers use bolts and nuts with a lock washer to attach the fire box to the smoker body.

Re: Gonna Be A Good Day Today Tater!
You can put some apple juice in the water pan, does the same as using apple wood. Works great with pork butts. Tried something today a friend told me about. Got 2 lb. tubes of Jimmy Dean Regular Sausage @ Wally World, put secret rub on one and left the other plain. Put them on the smoker for 2 1/2 h...

Re: Gonna Be A Good Day Today Tater!
My best buddy and his brother-in-law are big time pork butt (shoulder) smokers. My buddy's smoker is on a trailer and holds 60 butts. I've used his method and never been disappointed even with my "Smoky Hollow" smoker. I keep the temp between 175-200. I use Kingsford charcoal with the hick...

Re: Slick trick broadheads... Which one?????
I've been using Slick Trick 100gr. magnums for 3 or 4 years and will continue as long as they make them. They do fly like a field point and will cut through a deer's shoulder blade or rib bones and keep going, and most have dropped within eyesight. Can't ask or expect more.
