Re: broken string = deer still walking...now a BROKEN LIMB??

The string will certainly have broken AFTER the arrow was in flight. The forces applied to the string when you shoot or when they are cocked are not all that big, it's the sudden decelleration when the arrow is in flight and the limbs have to slow down that really stresses the string. This problem i...

Re: Models Ratio, Speed by Lbs.

Interesting, but think about it in energy per pound and they are all around the same. 225 pound @ 350 fps with 350 grain arrow............. .42 footlb/lb 200 pound @ 330 fps with 350 grain arrow............. .42 footlb/lb 175 pound @ 305 fps with 350 grain arrow............. .41 footlb/lb 150 pound ...

Re: Arrow/Bolt Mass

Everybody who knows vertical archery seems to be an expert on crossbows these days. The whole thing about momentum and it's proponents stems from an effort to maximize penetration on heavy skinned African game like Elephants and Buffs. If you are thinking about hunting this sort of critter you would...

Re: Bill T killed a bigun in Ohio

Don't give me too much credit on that one, I only pulled the trigger! The Backwoods guys were my guides there and they have some really great spots and big critters to hunt. Dan Wallace videod the hunt and it'll be on Sportsman Channel and Wild TV next season. The photo is a bit deceptive, the buck'...

Re: 07 & newer models

Hi Kev. I expect that we'll find a way to help this guy out and make him happy. If he's not fussy there's always a way to get a bow up and running again! As far as Comfybear is concerned, you are right, I don't need to get so defensive and I apologise if I seemed harsh in my response, but please und...

Re: 07 & newer models

Don't accuse us of a "planned obsolescence" way of doing business! When we see a way to improve our products in even a small way, we immediately put it into production. Sometimes this way of accumulating changes will make swapping parts with previous crossbow a difficult proposition, but i...

Re: Excalibur Hard Case

These cases are the ONLY option available in a hard case that will fit any of the long-draw recurve crossbows. Are they expensive? You bet! Are they big and clunky? You bet! Unfortunately this is it as far as selection is concerned though. Our customers have been hounding us for a decade for this ca...

Re: POI KEEPS CHANGING

Changes in vertical POI like you describe are often a result of loose trigger screws or scope mount screws or a loose rear scope bell . Lacking that, I'm thinking it might simply be a wonky scope. Try to see if everything is tight and you can't move the scope or rear scope bell up or down. If that's...

Re: Down Range Energy???

My question is what are you hunting? If you are hunting cape buffalo or elephants downrange energy is an issue, but for North American game you don't need a lot of punch, just accurate arrow placement. If you opt for heavy arrows in an effort to increase energy you give up flight speed. This can be ...

Re: Hunting trip ruined because of shattered limb...

Believe it or not, we've had limbs returned to us with heat damage from the heaters in a pickup truck. Here's how it happens, someone is frozen stiff when they get off stand and throws the crossbow onto the passenger side on the truck with the stirrup downward and the limbs still cocked. They turn o...

Re: Burning smell

Actually it's the back of the arrow and insert being ground against the deck as it accellerates. It's about the same smell as a match against a striker board and it comes from the Aluminum oxide that makes up the anodizing on the deck of your crossbow.

Re: Hunting trip ruined because of shattered limb...

I've never heard of a limb self destructing spontaniously like that for any other reason except heat damage. The area where the seperation occured is the first clue, the tip were it failed is the lowest stress area on the entire limb. The other clue is the way it failed at 90 degrees to the fibers i...
