I put out 40kg of whole corn last Wednesday. The deer started eating it about 4 days ago.

I was out in the stand this morning (-10C), most of the corn is gone. I noticed since it started getting colder there eating more.

Best part of the hunt so far

The week after gun season I decided to head out to the stand. My stand sits on the edge of a swamp and the deer travel parallel to the swamp. I was in the stand at about 6:30AM. At around 7:15 I heard some noise to the left of me. I saw the legs of a deer moving around the ground then saw the doe be...

I used my GPS and did a grid search but with no luck. Got fresh snow last night and I did notice the area (about 2 square km) is now void of d...

I agree, he is hurt'n for sure, I experienced much the same behaviour from a buck my brother in-law arrowed. The only diff was the brother in-laws buck was hit at a quartering to angle and he only got 1 lung, however as we trailed him (in the snow) there was lots of blood the first 80yrds but then ...

There was some snow but it continued to snow so the tracks and blood are covered. The shot was from a treestand and it was a broad side shot. A tree covered the vitals and the back half of the deer. So all that was showing was head, neck and front legs. He bedded down in a normal position (legs tuck...

Damn!! Lost Deer

I need some advice. I went out this morning, again.... Around 7:15 here comes a spike buck. He was about 12 yards from me and, well, I got kinda excited and made a bad shot. I hit him center but at the base of the neck and where the shoulder meets. I think the arrow missed the first shoulder blade b...

Black Bears in Newmarket, Ontario Area???

I live just east of Newmarket, ON. I was out this morning scouting around for signs of deer when I came across bear poop. I saw enough bear pooh back in September to know for sure that what I saw this morning was indeed...bear pooh. Lots of corn in it and still well formed, heck it still had a glaze...

Sorry for the delay. I uploaded the video with the recovery to YouTube. He's the link. Hope it works.

I look a little stressed during the recovery of the bear.

Fantastic hunt!

Sorry guys, I'll upload to You Tube and post link here. For those that did see the video, the shot was 23 yards according to the range finder. I mounted the camera using a 1/4" standard thread bolt (3 inches) through one of the two holes (where the STS system would attach). Thread the camera on...

My first Bear with my Excalibur Exomax (Video)

I thought I would share this video with all. I was up in Sultan, Ontario for a week hunting. We stayed at Wakami Lake Provincial Park. After 4 days of trying to 'spot and stalk' bear I gave up and went to see the local outfitter, Wakami Lake Outfitters in Sultan, ON. Dean, the co-owner set me up for...

It's pure jealousy! Plane and simple. I had the same problem with a friend who let me hunt on his property. I got a deer the first year then the second year and he got nothing. Well, after the second deer he was pissed. He started implying I was "playing games" in the woods and scaring the...

Deer Doe Tags

I haven't hunted in quite some time, when does the MNR mail out the doe tags for archery in Ontario?
