Beginner / youth crossbow modifications

I have been looking for a low cost entry / target / youth bow for awhile and had seen the Daisy youth crossbow model 4003. I picked one up new for around $50. https://i.postimg.cc/rFKZSdVQ/IMG-20190306-203159200.jpg It has a 29# draw weight, a bullpup trigger setup, and comes with adjustable open si...

Re: How to mount the GoPro

Could always print up a clamp that goes on the front scope bell that you can mount the gopro. Here is one that I drafted in a different thread when I was making one that would add a picatinny rail piece. https://i.postimg.cc/JhgfSFt9/tactzoneclamp4.jpg https://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/phpBB3/viewto...

Re: New micro 355 cheek piece issue

Mixter, The first repair option if you wanted to fix the stripped out plastic on the cheekpiece are threaded inserts. You drill out the holes larger to fit the brass inserts and press them into the cheekpiece. Then you will need to get replacement screws. I did this modification on one cheekpiece, a...

Re: Sighting in Diablos off a bench (frustrating)

Mark, I worked through improving the scope rail to trigger housing along with improving the trigger housing to rail mounting screws awhile back. Take a look and see if it is a modification that you would like to pursue to reduce your headaches with the scope mounting. http://www.excaliburcrossbow.co...

Re: Adding picatinny rail to scope

One lion, Welcome to the forum and yes I would be willing to share the stl file for this. I also put together a version of the ring with a piece gopro connector setup as you mentioned that is what you were wanting to be able to mount onto the bow. It should be a bit easier to mount a gopro with the ...

Re: Making a monster ?

The power stroke on the axiom is listed as being 14.5 inches, if you were to mount up a matrix riser and limbs and pull them back that far you would likely be somewhere around a 325 pound draw weight and somewhere around 440 fps as an estimate. The BD440 is only showing a max of 300 pounds and the l...

Re: School Project with crossbow got shot down

Check out the goats foot lever and the gaffe lever. Both were used to help cock medieval style crossbows. The gaffe lever is a bit easier to build than the goats foot lever.

Illumination light for the HHA Optimizer

I decided to have a go at making a bracket of my own that would be compatible with the common 3/8 by 32 TPI bow sight lights to use with the HHA Optimizer. https://i.postimg.cc/B6WPrbJJ/IMG-20181207-220311468.jpg The first version at the top of the photo was done by taking my calipers and getting so...

Re: Ranger Finder With High Magnification?

Not higher magnification, however, the one from AVYD https://www.getavyd.com/ does have a fairly large LCD display for the digits. It also projects a red laser beam when in use so would need to make sure it is allowed per the regs where you are hunting.

Re: Dr. Stirrup install question

I believe the stacking order for assembly would be the plastic of the DrStirrup followed by the flatwasher followed by the lockwasher and then the bolt head. The end cap was glued in as I recall and does take quite a bit of prying to get it out. Could try heating it a bit with a blow dryer to hopefu...

Re: Crossbow Fishing...?

You would have to build one of your bows up as a bowfishing rig by doing two things, the first is to shorten the power stroke on the bow so that your arrow is launching at 145 fps or less. The 145 fps is the recommended maximum speed from AMS for their safety slides. https://www.amsbowfishing.com/in...

Re: My one issue with the HHA Optimizer

Thanks for the kind words, I do try to keep my mind busy and this combines two of my hobbies, crossbows and 3D printing. With a little practice you can get the dial set by feel within plus or minus about 2 yards of where you are trying to get it set. Precise enough for a deer sized target within 40 ...

Re: micro limbs on a matrix

Yes and no, the limbs will bolt into place on the riser. The largest power stroke Micro is on the Micro 355 which is 10 inches and is pulling 280 pounds. The shortest power stroke on the smallest Matrix is around 11 inches for something like a Matrix 310 or Sapphire. Unless you are shortening a Matr...

My one issue with the HHA Optimizer

The one complaint that I have with the HHA Optimizer is when hunting in a blind you often are unable to make out the yardage numbers when you are getting near the end of the hunt for the day. You can always set it to the most likely yardage and then hold over or under. So I started thinking on how t...

Re: Micro 315 ?

I would also take a close look at the new GRZ2, it is rated 305fps and a draw weight of only 200 pounds. It is listed as using the same Feather lite stock that is used on the Micros and is considerably lower in price than the Micro 315. It is a touch bit wider than the Micro as it is using the Matri...
