Re: M380 blows up

Call me crazy, but it seems that I have heard about more quality issues in the last year or two than I have in the entire 10-11 years that I've owned an Excalibur. Limbs should be tested well beyond their intended draw weight to ensure poor quality limbs never leave the factory in the first place.....

Re: M380 blows up

I've been following xbow sites for close to a year now and almost all of the problems involve high velocity xbows (more than 330 fps). Are the companies forcing things a bit in their races to get higher velocities?

Re: equinox or matrix 380

You pretty well said right off the bat which one felt the best.....the Equinox. Get what feels best and comes up to your eyes fast and comfortable. I prefer the vari-zone scope. In any event, the Equinox is a good 200 dollars less....maybe more if you haggle. The Matrix series is extremely popular s...

Re: Crossbow targets

Cardboard box crammed full of rags or old clothes is great. When the front of the box gets too full of holes...you just tape on a new piece of cardboard. You can download and print free targets from the internet. However, a large cardboard box is not easy to move around so a foam target for practici...

Re: Spy Point rangefinder

I don't know much about rangefinders. I only held a Simmons at a 120 dollars for a few minutes at a store. The SpyPoint is fast and has "scanning" mode so that if I move from one object to another, the distances are indicated on the screen. Magnification is 7X so I can pick out small objec...

Spy Point rangefinder

I just bought a (used) Spy Point laser rangefinder. The Spy-1500pro. This is my first rangefinder. It says on the box that the range is from 15 yards to 1500 yards. Anyway, I doubt I will spot any game at 1500 yards.....maybe a mountain. What really surprised me was that I can get readings as close ...

Re: New to Crossbows looking for some advice
Cool. Thanks. So I really can not go wrong if I choose the Ibex/Axiom SMF then? If so (I get one of the two the SMF) the only thing I am concerned with is if I should buy the Anti-Dry-Fire option on top of it or not?
The anti-dry-fire is up to you. I don't have it and d...

Re: Spring bear hunt in 2014

I live in an area that is over crowded with deer, and our local population wants to open some areas for bow, and crossbow only hunts, but the anti's keep getting their way! Until one of their cars, or worse fall victim to this situation, nothing gets done! Areas in Illinois have had the same proble...

Re: Spring bear hunt in 2014

I was under the impression that Ontario, just like Quebec, had too many bears. There are fewer and fewer trappers and fewer people hunt bears. There are lots of bears in my region.....just outside of town....and sometimes in town. Luckily, bears are mostly vegetarian because if their main food was m...

Re: Flat trajectory

Maybe the reason you have less bow hunters is because the instructors suck! If everyone listens and believes these guys then they have majority convinced that archery tackle is for Robin Hood and Indians (no distaste meant towards my First Nations friends). Either of those instructors wearing a fur...

Re: Flat trajectory

There were about 35 people taking the hunting course....which is obligatory here in Quebec and when asked who owned a bow or a crossbow, only about 6 hands went up. As you can imagine....there were many useless questions about bows and crossbows which made the time pass much slower. A couple of poin...

Flat trajectory

I just took my hunter's course to obtain my permit to hunt with a crossbow here in Quebec. The 2 monitors who gave the course seem biased towards using traditional and compound bows. Ok....one of them has a 150 lb compound crossbow. Anyway, both recommended iron sights (illuminated) and did not thin...

Re: Quandry

I would have gone all the way to the 405. You already have a crossbow that slings bolts to 350 fps. The 380 fps is only a bit more so why not go all the way to 405 fps? You can use the Exomax for target shooting and the 405 for hunting.
