Re: Late Season Buck

Good going! As much as we all love hunting, it's nice to be able to enjoy the holidays without thinking about how to get your deer :)

That's one of the saddest stories I've ever heard :(

Re: southern ontario bow season

I've been out 8 times in WMU 76 and the only deer I've laid eyes on are were a pair of does travelling together. Killed one of them. Cam photos so far are sparse and all at night, no bucks.

Re: An expensive visit....

I'd been away from this forum for nearly 4 years as I hadn't been using my Exocet 165, basically as a result of good luck with the .243 over the past few years. Anyhow...... decided to dig out the Exocet 2 weeks ago in the hope of filling my tag. Naturally I decided to visit this forum to see what'...

Re: Scopes

There's been a bit of scopey chat on here recently and I have a couple of queries. First off does anybody know what the Leupold parallax is set to. Second ,I'm thinking of changing my crossbones to a scope with a simpler reticle, just cross hairs and posts possibly a Leupold VX1 3-9x40. I'll be usin...

Re: Is It Ever Going To Get COLD ?

You boys are funny... welcome to my world. Our deer are so lean they could pass for olympic sprinters. Only way to see your breath in the air around here is by crankin on a marley. Who do you think they sell all those overpriced coolers to :D Out with the Keystone, in with the backstrap! Last week'...

What do you use to secure your trail cams?

I use 1/8" or 3/16" nylon coated steel cable and use cable crimps to loop the ends for a padlock. I'm not particularly fond of the light coloured appearance of the clear nylon coating on the cable, but that's what's available in the hardware department. I'd prefer something in black. What,...

Re: Is It Ever Going To Get COLD ?

On Saturday I saw mosquitos in the woods. Contrast that to my trail cam photo from this time last year:

Re: The grass is not always greener on the other side of fen

I hear ya :). In November I went on my annual rifle hunt up north, deep in the big woods, hunted hard for 2 straight weeks, and never fired a shot. Last week I arrowed one 5 minutes from home. And if I had a chance to do it all over, I would have done the exact same thing. Love it! :D

Re: My son scores 1st deer

Great story congrats. Im 50 but i remember my first deer at age 17 like it was yesterday Yup Rex, like Longbow said, every detail of that hunt will stick with him forever. Even more special that it was with you. Both of you with a life treasure. I was 21 when I got my first and will never forget th...

Re: Shooting all over

I believe the others are correct; its likely a scope issue. The only other reason for which I've experienced a similar frustration was with a bad batch of new arrows. On a few of the arrows the glue had let go at the back end of a vane. As a result, accuracy randomly went from perfect to erratic, de...

Re: Tricky Doe

Thanks everyone! :D I wish I was so skilled as to pull off a walk & stalk with a crossbow. I've only managed it with a rifle. No, this time it was like a lot of my crossbow hunts in recent years; improvised on the spot with the changing conditions and tucking myself small into some bit of natura...

Congratulations to Kathy and tell her that she should be extra proud of her shooting skills, because the smaller ones are harder to hit!
My wife is still working on getting her first one.
