I got out tonight but no luck. Had three ducks pass by but the only geese I saw were a pair who flew over head as I was packing out. I can't drive back yet with the crops still in the fields so I had to park at the farm house and haul all my decoys and other gear in in my canoe pack. That reminds me...

Awesome pictures! I assume with the horse and buggy in the one picture that you were north of Waterloo somewhere. A buddy of mine has a spot he hunts east of Elmira just outside of town. I do a few hunts with him there every season and it's always a great spot. There's a body of water just north of ...

Ontario anterless deer tag rant....

GRRRRRR..... I'm getting fed up with the lottery system for doe tags in Ontario. I apply WMU 49 every year for my first choice. The allotment in that area is about 65-70% of those who apply. In an ideal world this would mean I would get a tag 2 out of every 3 years. I know it's not an ideal world ou...

In most cases these cars are stolen so there's really not much recourse.

I live in your area and I spent three or four years looking for a good deal on a used Excalibur but on the very rare occasion that one actually came up for sale they were usually asking near new prices. This year I finally got a brand new one (Pheonix). The Bow Shop from Waterloo always has a booth ...

In many areas of Southern Ontario there is a law stating "that no caliber larger than .275 may be used for hunting". I understand the concern with rifles as Southern Ontario is very populas but using a bore diameter as the gauging factor doesn't make much sense. The way the law is I could ...

I live in a quiet, older neighbourhood (built in the early '50's) in the middle of the city. We hunt three different farms in this area, two of which are about a 20 minute drive away and one is about a half hour. We drive right past the Excalibur factory on the way to one of them :D . Not many rural...

I checked my wifes Vixen and my Phoenix. On hers one limb is pretty much flawless and the other has slight grinding marks on one spot. My Phoenix limbs both appear flawless.

I feel bad about the situation but I really have a hard time feeling sorry for anything to do with bowhunters.net. For the most part they're very anti-crossbow.

I'm very sad to here about this but before anyone gets too carried away on an anti-hunting slant to this story I must say I'm not suprised by what happened. I have travalled a lot to the USA on business and in recent years it has become increasingly difficult to get across when your trip is business...

String life

I did a lot of research on crossbows before I settle in on Excalibur, and I have no doubt I made the right choice, but one criticism I often came across was that Excaliburs tend to have a shorter string life than a lot of other xbows. What kind of string life can I expect (Phoenix) and what should I...

Thank so much for all the warm welcomes! :D This will be my first year taking advantage of archery season. I've taken all my deer in the past with a rifle and we're still looking forward to that season too. My wife and I own a hunt camp near Huntsville in the Muskoka's. We mostly hunt deer, bear and...
