This is just for me and definitely not necessarily the answer for all others, but generally the ease of use (frequently smaller, lighter) and optics on the crossbow are the determiners.
I primarily hunt for larger deer which I normally encounter at late dusk. Optical quality is a factor at this time.

AJ,
Sorry you’re going thru this. We went through this 17 years ago. I’ll be praying for you both.

Re: If You Have To Cough
As referenced earlier, the purpose of the mask would be to greatly reduce the mist coming from a cough or sneeze. The mist that carries the viruses. So, the mask would be for helping prevent spreading any viruses to others, not immediate self protection; but indirectly for eventual self protection. ...

Re: A question for the accuracy nuts
I obsess over accuracy. The answers given here are excellent , IMO. Just a few additional thoughts: 1)the finer the range marks, the more precise the aiming, 2) the greater the magnification, the more precise the aiming, 3) head centered in the scope reduces parallex concerns, 4) all else equal, I'v...

However, I’ve shot none of the newer ones so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I posted the above because I actually have been in a situation where I experienced true, raw mob/gang/pack type of irrational hatred. This just has to be seen to fully appreciate just how bad it is. The previous post concerns just one of two times that possession of a firearm , on my person, has sav...

Re: OT - What's Going On in VA
Arkansas has an advanced concealed carry (expect other states do also). I have this. When we travel, I take my pistol. If states don’t allow me to even have one in my car, I don’t go there. Years ago, I was not allowed to enter Canada due to my pistol, so I drove back to the nearest town in the USA ...

Mike,
Wind chill here was 6F this morning and up at West Plains it was -2F. And that’s less than 100 miles from here! Seems like you just have one summer and winter home, just different foundations.

Re: fixed or mechanical
The TruGlo Titanium 100g 4-blade expandible is about as perfect of a broad head as I’ve ever encountered. Very low energy required. Massive holes. The 150g Crossbow Trick is a great fixed blade.

I have seen one. >20 years ago. On the same land, the land owner/farmer has seen a totally white doe. I never saw it. I’ve hunted the same land for 38 years.

Re: New Xbows, BHs, scopes, etc
Very timely thread as I am selling off much of my 'extra' sporting stuff. Down to 2 Excals, just sold my compound crossbow, and 4 deer rifles. I don't need 4 rifles so trying to decide which 2 go. Donated a bunch of clothing and boots and still clearing that stuff out. Sold my motorcycle and ATV la...

2 SWATs, Aculeus 460, BD400. Can’t envision getting rid of any of them.
