Re: My first bow and arrow
Speaking of shotguns, did you know that when you cut off a shotgun shell at the brass, pound it into a wooden post with a mallet, then strike the primer with a nail, the primer explodes and framents of the primer are propelled - with force - through the thumb and finger that held the nail? I didn't....

Re: My first bow and arrow
Obviously that first story is a reproduction. But we were into bows in a big way as kids. Made em from all sorts of wood; even had willow patches - for making arrows - that we staked out as our own and fought over with willow poachers. To make arrows, I'd take a finishing nail flatten the head part ...

I too have gone BEEs. I usually make my own but Wyvern Creations has them at a price where I cannot afford to do it...except for the fun. GT Lazer II work well in my bows under 320 fps, faster than that they get squirrely. Thought about getting GTs with stiffer spine but tried BEEs based on recommen...

My first bow and arrow
Life as a child growing up in on a farm ..... North Dakota Around age 10 my dad got me one of those little badass compound bow beginner kits. Of course, the first month I went around our land sticking arrows in anything that could get stuck by an arrow. Did you know that a 1955 40 horse Farmall trac...

Re: Best adhesive for Brass Inserts and Carbon Bolts
Is the blue top gorilla glue that much different or better than the original gorilla glue? I tried it some years ago and was totally unimpressed with it... it foams up and gets all over adjacent parts, and it wasn't a strong bond at all, very brittle. Just wondering how much it has changed :?: Gori...

Remember, it's not how fast the arrow goes,it's how far underground it's buried ...AFTER passing through the target.

This by someone from another site: "I'm not sure who you would have heard from that would make a statement that faster arrows are more difficult to stabilize, but this statement is totally inaccurate. These days we have been achieving the greatest levels of accuracy with the fastest shooting cr...

Re: Grouping issue
First make sure your bow is rock solid (as are you) and bow isn't resting on something hard that would cause deflection from recoil...which becomes more apparent at increased distances.

Re: My hunting land is a garbage dump for some rude slobs!
I live on a rural road and constantly have to police junk from it's ditches. Not just bottles and food wrappers, fish and deer cleaning leftovers, tires, but a water heater, even a hid-a-bed couch. The dump is between me and the city. They have to literally drive past it to dump here. PIGS!!!

Re: Rage Broadheads for crossbow
I converted my original O ring Rages to shock collar kind with some heat shrink tubing, large enough to fit over back the 'head. Cut a piece that extends to where it catches the blades and slightly past the end of the thick part of the head. Shrink the back part a tad. The collar is held in place by...

Re: I Wonder What Happened to the Fellow
CROSSBOWS SHOOTING 'DARTS' IS HOW IT ALL STARTED. That's what a true bolt is/was. And they became so effective - against armored knight - that ownership was outlawed ... under penalty of death!~ Nah, I'll stick to arrows, 'les CBs get re tagged as 'assault bows.'
