I had the exact same thing happen on my Ten Point. There turned out to be a hairline crack in the limb near the pocket. What you described is nearly identical other than the Crossbow.

I shoot a thompson encore with 295 grain powerbelt bullets and 100 grains (two) pyrodex pellets. I can shoot the butt off of a mosquito at 100 yards. Just my 2 cents.

If anywhere other than MN I would get the Max cause it is illegal here to have over a 225# draw weight.
