bolt making questions
i'm considering learning to fletch my own bolts and i have some questions. what glue is best to use for inserts and nocks? also, does anyone use natural feathers instead of vanes. i remember from hunting with a vertical bow that feathers were always more accurate for me than vanes, especially with b...

for kicks i figured out that sound will travel 30 yds in .08 hundreths of a second. depending on a speed of 300-350fps, the sound of the shot will reach an animal .18 to .22 hundreths of a second before the arrow does which basically means at 30yds, an animal has about 2 tenths of a second to clear ...

some calculations on arrow speed in relation to flight time
i had some time to figure out flight time of arrows traveling at different speeds to 30 yds if anyone is interested, i rounded the results to the nearest hundreth of a second: 350fps = .26 hundreths of a second flight time to 30 yds 325fps = .28 hundreths of a second flight time to 30 yds 300fps = ....

that deer will never be shot in a game preserve, at least not for a very long time as it's worth way more as a breeder. there was a guy in pennsylvania who had a breeder buck stolen. this buck scored around 300 non-typical and was the largest living whitetail at the time. a frozen straw of semen fro...

excalibur fire bolts on ebay
there is a dealer on ebay who is listing excal fire bolts for sale for $72 per dozen. they're original excal brand with excal nocks, 4 inch vanes, and he's including a dozen 100 grn field points. shipping was $8. i think he has about 6 or 7 dozen bolts left.
