If it were me, I'd consider getting a pair of Mag-Tip Limbs (Archer's Nook has them reasonable) and saving those carved tip limbs for later. I've shot .3" 3 shot 100yd groups from the bench with Weatherby factory ammo from a .300 Weatherby Mag Mark V. (My beef with it was the weight - NOT something you'd want to lug around the woods very far.) I strongly suspect the rifle you handled was a Vanguard - I concur with Hi5 - great value....
