Re: Back From South Africa...Report
Ask away fellas I'll try to answer all questions... Flight was uneventful. I used a double bow Tuffpak to pack my bow and most of my hunting clothes/gear. Since it looks like a golf club case no one messed with it. My brother in-law used an aluminum rifle case and his lock had been cut off. So there...

Back From South Africa...Report
I haven't posted in awhile as life has been extremely hectic but I just wanted to give a post action report of my hunt in the Limpopo Valley region of South Africa. I took my M355 on this hunt and I must say it performed flawlessly. The bow was set up with a Nikon Bolt scope, TT single stage trigger...

Re: How to properly sharpen a broadhead?
On Slicks I replace blades. For VPA's, Centaurs, and Simmons I use a bench grinder with 8" cardboard wheels...one with silicon carbide abrasive and the other with stropping compound. Puts an edge on like none other. I suppose you could do the same with the Slick blades, but I'd be wary of holdi...

Can they SK300's be applied with the AZ Bolt fletch without hitting the rails?

Cock Vane and Spine...
Quick question to you expert arrow builders out there. I just received 18 spine matched ZS's from South Shore. So when I build these up, does it matter if I put the cock vane on the stiff side or 180 degrees opposite?

Re: most accurate arrow & broadhead
For me it's the following...
18" spine matched ZS's squared at both ends
2" blazers applied with a AZ Bolt fletcher, with 7/8" offset
4" wrap
92gr brass inserts again, squared
150gr VPA non-vented broadhead
460 grains with Lumenok, 20.4% FOC and plenty of downrange smack.

Re: zombie brass insert glue
I'm with Boo, blue cap gorilla glue for inserts and fletch. For my safari arrows though I will be going with the 24hr JB cold weld epoxy. (for the added insurance)

Re: The CLAW sling
The Claw is an awesome sling! Stays put even when you are also wearing a back pack and a slung crossbow.
I always make a point of buying the version with the metal QD swivels. I don't trust the plastic versions.

Re: o\t ccw who does it an what do you carry
Update...I acquired the XD Mod 2 in 9mm and cannot say enough good things about it. Excellent ergonomics, and very accurate. Right up there with my HK .45 Tac. I'm using Federal 147gr HST's. Here is an excellent site on personal defense ammo...not sure if someone posted this site yet or not but it g...

Re: WHat Are Ya changin fer this Season ?
Not changing much other than my arrow recipe. New arrows are being geared towards my African hunt this August and if they are good enough for that they will be more than enough for whitetails. 18" spine matched ZS's 92gr brass inserts lumenoks 3.5" wraps 2" blazers 150gr VPA 3-blade b...

Re: 2016 Models - Not impressed.
Ah yes, marketing at it's finest. I'd rather see less variants or at least differentiate more than just a few fps. Do we really need 305fps, 310fps, and 315fps model crossbows?? Maybe next year we will have 300-405fps bows increasing by 5fps graduations lol. I only have my opinion so take it with a ...

Re: First look: Bulldog & Micro 355
Hmmm...looks like the perfect time to pick up a new tried and true M380 at a discount. I'll let ya'll be the beta testers for these new bows. Hopefully Excal did their due diligence in the durability testing. I've not watched the videos but I'm wondering how that trigger feels on the bullpup stock. ...

Re: How often does everyone shoot to stay proficient
I believe the most critical part of the process of shooting a crossbow is trigger control and breathing. Just like shooting a rifle well. These are degradable skills so I practice several times a week by shooting at the smallest detail I can see on my target face. Usually a previous arrow hole.

Re: German Kinetic Silver Flame Broadheads
GK's are an excellent broadhead and according to the GK website SSAS is an actual importer and seller of them. I say this because those sold by Alaskan Bowhunting are not the original GK's and I would recommend not ordering from them. Those that I purchased from them were of inferior quality. Usable...
