Re: Help with my new S5 and brace height

im gonna dissagree with everyone on this one..these excals set up so easy and stay so consistant that i have no prob doing a change here and there,,i say lower you brace height so you know its good, site that baby in and go huntin..no big deal at all..youll be more confidant when the shot arises.. ...

Re: Canned hunts

What about guys who set up feeders to attract the deer, use trail cameras so they know when the big ones are showing up, and hunting based on the images and times from the trail cameras? How do you feel about that practice (which I confess to having done before)?

Re: One... How much accuracy should I expect?

I am shooting 100 grain FP and they group within the diameter of a snuff can (or even smaller) shooting off of a rest. I do have the heavier brass inserts in the 20" bolts. Bolts are Easton 2117 with GT brass inserts and 2" blazers. I think the extra weight on the front helps at the longer...

Re: 50+ yrd shot!

Agingcrossbow hunter, most guys feel just like you do. If you think you are going to make long shots, practice at that range and put a Vendetta on the compound or crossbow so you know how far the shot is. I used to practice with my Matthews at 50 yards not because I wanted to make 50 yard shots but ...

Re: 50+ yrd shot!

Longer shots like that are common in the Western part of the US where they do not hunt in tree stands. The Pigman makes long shots with his compound quite often on his TV show. He always ranges with the Vendetta first, then makes the shot. He is also a very good shot! I think the problem with the 50...

Re: Made my first kill with a crossbow - wild turkey

I was in my Double-Bull Matrix 360 ground blind with the camo screens down. Shot through the screens using 100 grain Slick Trick broadhead and Easton 2117 shafts with heavy inserts. The loudest noise occurred when the arrow hit a tree after passing through the turkey at 20 yards. I have made two pre...

Made my first kill with a crossbow - wild turkey

Re: lone wolf treestands

I have both also, they are the best stands I have ever used. The climber has an arm that swings down for you to sit on as you climb. The same arm can be rotated upward and serves a a rest.

Re: 50 Yard Group

@dwilley, I am very confident that I can make the shot at 50 yards after shooting the Excal at that range although the unknown is the effect of sting jump at that distance (the crossbow is very consistent as demonstrated by the 50 yard shot group). Similarly, I would not take a shot over 30 with out...

Re: 50 Yard Group

I haven't shot fixed blades for a decade but I think I have some Muzzy 100s that were used for shooting through the net on my ground blind. May have some Thunderhead 100s from the old days. Will see how they group at 50 yards.

Re: 50 Yard Group

The accuracy is in the bow, not the shooter. When shooting at 20 yards with a rest, it was hitting the center of the smallest circle, not just the circle. The Excals are unbelievable. I figured at 50 yards, the arrows would vary a lot more. Any of those arrows would have hit the kill zone in a deer....

50 Yard Group

http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff468/Routerbob/50YardGroup.jpg?t=1303579485 Finally got a day where the wind was not howling and sighted in the Exocet 200. The photo is from 50 yards using a rest. Arrows are 2117's with the standard Easton inserts that came with the arrows used as nocks. Brass...

Re: Fletching with the Arizona EZ Fletch

I am using the EZ-Fletch bolt with 2" blasers and cannot believe how easy it is to use. The jig really presses the bases of the vanes against the shaft for a good tight fit. Before, I used a Jo-Jan fletching tool that only put one fletch on at a time. The Arizona EZ-Fletch is much easier to use.

Re: Getting lines (scratches) on nock end of arrows

I looked at my carbon arrows very closely and you can see faint marks. It has to be happening as soon as the trigger releases. These are 2117's so the centerline of the arrow is slightly below the string center (as compared to the 2216 and Laser II's). This may be magnifying the problem. Arrows are ...

Image

I removed the scope and scope mount and the arrow retainer to inspect the rail but nothing stands out. The scratches align with the scope rail.
