Re: Tamed some of the noise out of the Phoenix

I just took my scope mount and held it up to the side making sure that I matched the screw holes and they may be a problem using these if you use a scope. The top of the scope mount comes down a long way on the retention spring. You may have to trim the two little balls off the side of the dampener ...

Re: Tamed some of the noise out of the Phoenix

They haven't moved at all since I put mine on and those are 2 inch vanes on my arrows.

Re: Tamed some of the noise out of the Phoenix

I took the first picture after installing the dampeners initially. Here is a picture of the actual positioning of the dampeners after getting them set to clear the vanes. http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s270/theoldarcher/target006.jpg You can also see the type vanes that I shoot on the arrow in t...

Dan Miller comment

I knew if I looked long enough and hard enough, I would find something negative to say about Dan Miller....He doesn't live in Georgia.
The man is a saint. I had to contact him last week and as usual, he delivered without a hitch. God bless the man. :D

Re: Tamed some of the noise out of the Phoenix

Well, whether it actually helps with the noise or not, it definitely hasn’t affected the accuracy of the bow at all. This is the Fiber Optic sights at 25 yards. http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s270/theoldarcher/target002.jpg Had to walk it down a couple of times to get on zero but I think I can l...

Re: Tamed some of the noise out of the Phoenix

Please don't take this wrong - I'm just asking. How does the stirrup vibrate and cause noise on a shot? I've watched a slo-mo video of an Excal being shot and I can't see the stirrup vibrating. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmntwlIhco4 There are several videos in the series and I can see th...

Re: Tamed some of the noise out of the Phoenix

Would be interesting to compare before and after chron readings. When I put Limbsavers out on the limbs my Equinox slowed by over 10 fps, and the noise was decreased only marginally, certainly not so a deer could tell the difference. IMO, can't wuiet a crossbow enough so a deer won't hear it; besid...

Re: Tamed some of the noise out of the Phoenix

ELLIS wrote:Nice Job! I am wondering if the vanes of your arrows hit the Bowjax bolt retention spring dampener when you shoot. What vanes are you using?
I have them far enough up the spring that it doesn't hit it when I shoot. I am shooting blazer vanes and they clear fine.

Tamed some of the noise out of the Phoenix

Georgia season is quickly winding down to a close on January 1st 2012. I have had a good season but still have a couple more tags to fill before I’m done. I wanted to change my setup earlier in the season but have waited till now so if I don’t finish filling my tags it won’t be a big deal. I took my...

Re: 400 fps?

I meant no disrespect to anyone who wants more speed in their crossbow. All I am saying is that if Excalibur never comes up with a 400 feet a second it's not a big deal when they shoot like this. http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s270/theoldarcher/lume014.jpg This is two shots at a half inch dot (o...

Re: 400 fps?

I too apologize, Jim for thinking that we were being baited into a bad post. I am happy for your success and I feel your pain about the Barnett. My first crossbow that I bought was a Barnett and I had nothing but problems from the time I took it out of the box. Since I have been using the Exc...

Re: 400 fps?

Sorry if I came off sounding like a smartbutt right off the bat by what I said but...me thinks we are being baited. Either way I totally agree with the comment above, "if it ain't broke...don't fix it.

Re: 400 fps?

Why would they have too? They already kill everything that walks on seven Contanants.  When you can shoot hole for hole out to 50 yards...in my opinion, speed is over rated. Good first post by the way, welcome. 8)
