Re: Must Have accessories?
I can't agree that a cheek piece is the #1 accessory. I tried one on my Ibex and did not like it. Putting the bow to my shoulder with my eyes closed and then opening them to see if I was looking through the scope worked well without the cheek piece, but with it my eye did not end up in the right pla...

Re: Boo's stock
Truly beautiful, but may I ask, what is the line running down the pistol grip, it looks almost like a seam?
Many thanks for sharing this, I've saved all the pictures you posted. You are a real inspiration, I think I may have to try making one myself this summer,
cheers,
David

Re: Hey im new here
Welcome,
I'm pretty new myself, but have already found a wealth of information here from folks who really know their bows. I'm sure you'll like it,
cheers,
David
P.S. Check out "Boo's stock", you won't regret it

Re: Faces and Names
I recently made a post to this list that I now much regret. I had spent a day dealing with a computer system that was not how it was supposed to be because of someone’s “jokes”. Pydpiper’s avatar was the last straw to a bad day. I truly did not mean to offend his family, the “nice family” was meant....

Re: Stopping Crossbow arrows
Had the same question, best answer seemed to be, "get a bag filled with rags, stuffed in there tight", I opted for a box with the front and back made of carpet, with cardboard facings that are easily replaceable. Works great for field points with both my cross bow and my compound. For broa...

Re: Newbie to hunting looking on opinions/advice
I'm 63 years old, 5' 7", reasonably fit and weigh 160lbs. However, I couldn't easily cock the larger Excalibur models when I tried at the dealer's, just not tall enough, but an Ibex, with a slightly shortened cocking devise, works fine for me. Don't underrate the 175's,

Re: A run in with a Big Doe
Hi Raymond, I'm glad your son was not hurt, I hope the same can be said for the doe. I had a friend once who tried to run down a deer with his Mustang, he thought it would be a safe, easy way to get "roadkill." Fortunately for him he missed it. We informed him of the errors in his thinking...

Re: Shrink wrap
The different coefficients of kinetic friction for the two surfaces will make a difference to the arrow's speed, but I doubt much. The amount of energy that the retainer takes away from the arrow will be small for either surface, the difference between the two is probably insignificant, although wit...

Re: Excal scopes
In the absence of air resistance, all projectiles that start off moving in the same direction at the same speed will have identical flight paths, regardless of their weight, it's called "free fall." But arrows are not without air resistance, so in air, lighter arrows do tend to slow down m...

Re: Vertical bow vs. crossbow accuracy
Sun shone enough this afternoon that I got to try shooting both, but at 25 yards rather than 40 yards, more my range. Off hand the compound wins, 3 inch vs a 5 inch group, but with a rest that 5 inch group for the crossbow, shrinks to slightly less than two inches. I shot about 15 arrows per group, ...

Re: Boo's stock
Apparently Mike found a piece of wood with a really nice stock in it. All he's doing is cutting away the scrap wood, how tough can that be? I found a log with some firewood inside it once, wasn't difficult at all to hack it out, seriously, this is one of the coolest processes I've had the pri...
