A good dog can track the scent of ONE PARTICULAR human across a parking lot that is filled with the scent of other humans, gas, oil, diesel, plastic, and all manner of other scents. A deer has a sense of smell just as good. So, if you like the smell of apple, pine or other scents, use them. Just use...

I used to be "hung up" on the noise thing. To my ear, shooting my ExoMag or my ExoMax is sort of like banging two garbage can lids together. The metal kind even. They're noisy. :D :D I got to thinking, though. Who cares? The deer or elk or moose have fantastic hearing. They're going to hea...

Remember the fellow called "Vang"? He was just convicted of shooting all those folks who were rude to him in attempting to chase him off their hunting grounds. Even if it is public lands, you still own YOUR stand. You don't own the tree, or the surrounding lands, though. He can hang off a ...

Roy I was wondering how your efforts produced. I don't always get to check this forum to see what is going on. However, I did read some of your posts in connection with the Navy ban on crossbow usage. I'm pleased to see that you had some success. Forgive me if I appear to lecture you. I mean no offe...

Digger Your wooden stocks are beautiful. I'm not trying to take that away. However, the kind of hard use that my hunting equipment gets would be a sacriledge to such fine workmanship. My firearms are strictly utilitarian...the ones I hunt with, and the few that could be said to be collector's pieces...

Stock improvement for Excalibur

I like my Excalibur bows. I have both an Exomax and an Exomag. They're accurate and dependable. However, I would have been much happier if instead of camo, the stock had come with a soft, quiet, finish, something like Hogue does with gun stocks. If it came as an option, I would spend the extra$$$$ f...

Grey Owl's right. This did circulate about a year ago. I have to agree with the skeptics who expressed their doubts back then. It's pretty hard to imagine a cat, in such open country, attacking a group which consists of two dogs, two humans and a mule. Also, to say that the mule would grab the cat b...

Crossbow string serving

For those of us folks in Canada, where is a source of string serving material? I assume that it is somewhat hardier than the stuff used for long bows?

Thanks

Joel I used to raise Labrador Retriever dogs. They come in black, golden, and chocolate colors. They're all the same breed, however. I would personally be opposed to giving special status to white moose, deer, or any species that are legal to hunt. That would become the thin end of the wedge for ant...

Procedure for re-installing nocks

OK, I bought the Excalibur arrow pulling tool, the type that threads into the shaft. It makes it easier to pull the arrow straight back, and also prevents crushing or twisting vanes while pulling an arrow from the butt. (The ExoMax really does drive them in HARD!) Doing a bit of practising the other...

Anybody have other problems with this brand?

Last week I was using the Excalibur arrow puller (the kind that threads into the end of the shaft) and instead of pulling the arrow out of the butt, I pulled the nock out of the shaft.

terry That's the kind of feedback I was hoping to get! Thanks. I almost ordered one. I did wonder WHY they had both modes of illumination, the standard and the led UV. Now, that makes sense. A ten foot limit is useless for the application I had in mind. Paying extra to get that "gimmick" f...
