Re: A question for the hunting gurus...
I hunt SW Ontario and I have seen rubs on trees. Most of the bucks I've been keeping tabs on started to rub off their velvet in early Sept. Bucks make scrapes year round but you are more likely to find them leading up to the rut. I have even seen a doe piss in a scrape and hoof at the ground like a ...

Re: Feeders
I hunt in MI and Ontario, Canada. In MI, baiting is legal in my area. In other zones that have seen CWD or other diseases that spread from deer feeding in close proximity baiting is completely closed. But there are many restrictions statewide. For instance on the quantity of feed and sq. footage for...

Re: Hey Big John
Best arrows I've ever fired by far! Flight is so true and you can tell by the arrow to arrow consistency. I made the mistake of only ordering a 1/2 doz. I'll be ordering four times that much next time. I saw that he sells a Lumenocks extinguisher for about $10, worth the price.

Re: Feeders
I have tripod feeders and run the cabelas photocell motors on them. They are loud but the deer don't mind at all. They are so accustomed to the sound they don't flinch...I have seen it go off while watching does mill around they don't even look up. Now if a wandering buck that might not frequent the...

Re: New limbs-string question
Thanks for all the tips guys. Xcalibur, I really appreciate the offer. The string sits a good 1/2" off the S5's, not sure I even need them anymore. I have noticed a bit more TWANG with the upper brace height. I really though I'd lose more FPS than what Vixenmaster said, so as long as the bow sh...

Re: New limbs-string question
Definitely got only one new limb back...I marked the limbs with a sharpie before I sent them off to see if they'd replace both. One limb is definitely new the other original. I left it cocked, fired about 20 arrows with 3 twists as advised and still, BH isn't close. Deer season is fast approaching a...

New limbs-string question
I returned my equinox's limbs, the tiller was way off. Excalibur replaced one faulty limb. Today, I put both good limbs on and strung the bow. The brace height was way too high, not even in the hash marks on the rail. So I gradually took twists out of the stock excalibur Dacron string. Each time, br...

Re: matrix 380 on order
If you plan on hunting this year, go with the stock setup, it's more than adequate. There are so many different things to tinker with. Lets see, you could replace the string, many good string makers on the forum, I recommend Boo strings. The diablo arrows can be swapped out for black eagle arrows. I...

Re: Quiver?
I have a Bohning quiver that fits mine. Any new quiver you buy should be able to mount to your bracket but you may need to replace the "track" that is probably still mounted.

I did the same thing last night and noticed that my serving frayed a bit...no big deal. Didn't affect POI for me.

Re: What do you do with your bow in a tree stand?
Never thought of tethering, probably the best idea. I saw the video you mentioned, and in a duck blind I've seen a good friends double barrel shotgun blow both barrels from an impact, (like the one in the dubious video), with the safety ON! I make heavy duty screw-in bow hangers and the crossbow han...

The wife's Vixen
I outfitted an older Vixen for my wife with some spare parts I had lying around the garage. Put on a scope rail, a new shadow zone I had in the box, some GT lazer II's with 100 gr Snuffers, a new Flemish string and a Bohning top mount quiver bracket. I gotta say that even though the string is pink a...

Re: New owner of Matrix 380
Mine shot the diablo's with 150gr heads at 343fps. I believe total arrow weight is about 400gr. I've heard most others are between that 340- 350 fps. Enjoy the bow, you're going to love it.

Re: top mt quiver bracket
I just put a Munch Mount on my 380, I like it and the are some obvious advantages, and there are some draw backs. A bit top heavy, arrows need to be loaded from the very front of the bow, matrix has a short rail and long retention spring...not the best for loading when arrows are tipped with a broad...

The Bohning top mount is sick...but one on my wife's vixen today. Cheap, like $20
