Slick Trick's - no go in Oklahoma

I was all hyped about trying out some slick trick's this season and just found out they aren't legal in Oklahoma. Requirement: Broadheads: Hunting type points not less than 7/8 inches wide and not less than 1 1/2 inches long. Slick Trick length: 1 inch (100's and 125's) Any other states have this ty...

Great video - thanks for sharing! Can't wait to give it a try myself - I've always paid to have my deer processed - not going to happen anymore...

If that is the case, it won't be delivering bolts at 405 fps unless they are lighter than a gnat...

I've been having this debate myself and came up with "neither" on my decision. Liked the Nikon's accuracy and optics - didn't like the 8x when trying to hold it on target. The Bushnell was a little bulkier (still nice sized) but thought it was a little slow in getting a readout. I've decid...

New Phoenix owner here and I can't see how anybody would want or need more power than what this crossbow produces. I recently migrated from the vert bow world and the Phoenix is all the bow anyone needs for any critter on the planet, IMO...

I just got mine in yesterday and I had the choice of either. Attached is the link from the site I ordered my shaft and components from - no hassles, shipped right away. Your choice of insert when you order the shaft from them - or you can order only the inserts by themselves if you have shafts. You ...

wabi - I'm thinking I'm going to try and do a "flame fade" that is limited to the areas that don't contact the rail or clip. That way I get the nice look and don't have to worry so much about wear. Not sure how they'll look compared to those that are completely around the entire shaft, but...

The gold tip aluminum inserts work with their weighting system that allows you to add as much weight as you like. I didn't want/need the full 90 gns either, so I went with the aluminum insert which I believe weighs 30 grns and then added the weights to tune for FOC. This also allowed me to use 100 g...

Lacquer Crest Durability

I'm strongly considering giving some bolts a spray lacquer dress up but have some concerns about durability on the rail and arrow holder. I've crested arrows before and used wraps and it always seems to rub and wear, making the arrows not look so hot in short order. Anybody have an update on how the...

Went and looked again at the rangefinders at Bass Pro - couldn't find one that was calling for my money on an upgrade from my old binocular style Bushnell. Either too expensive or not the right fit. I liked the Nikon 440 size and accuracy but didn't care for the 8x view when being hand held. A littl...

I just picked up the RX-1 today at Bass Pro for $225 (on sale) after comparing it with the Bushnell and Nikon models in the same price range. I'll be using it mostly for crossbow/muzzleloader. I found it to feel very "solid" in my hands with the 6x being about right for a handheld unit. I...

Congrats - I'm in the same boat as you were at this point. Just bought a Phoenix after having a tendon injury in my right hand making it impossible to vert bow hunt. Not that I will miss it much - went 4+ years with horrible luck - killed many during rifle season during that time period, but always ...

Rage use with Crossbow

New member here - and hopefully soon to be Phoenix owner. This is a great forum with a lot of useful information for the first time crossbow buyer. I ended up here due to the Excal crossbow seeming to be the bow for me. I was a traditional archer but due to a hand injury, I'll be hopefully using a c...
