Re: Thanks Dan Miller

Dan is the best! He has gone above and beyond for me on numerous hard to find items as well as warranty issues. Recently he helped scavenge up a cable slide for an old "Maxpoint" (which technically isn't even an Excal). Anyways I honestly think this gentleman and the company he represents ...

Re: Rope Cocker vs Crankaroo

Thanks for the tips guys. I am pretty methodical about keeping the hooks against the rail prior to starting my draw(as with crank)but even though the rope cocker is supposed to balance the uneven strength as you draw I try to finish with my hands touching directly in line with the safety to minimize...

Rope Cocker vs Crankaroo

Is a rope cocker is as consistent as a crank? I've noticed that on my long draw Excals my left/right shot consistency varies a lot more with a rope cocker than the crank, but little to no observable variance on my shorter less poundage models.
Anyone else run into this?

Re: broadhead for the Equinox

I too use the Grim Reapers, and last year stepped up to the large 1 3/4" cut. NOW: The large blades DO open up occasionally when fired (never had it happen with the smaller ones though), and due to the size the blades will actually hit the stirrup when firing sending your shot who-knows-where....

Re: broadhead for the Equinox

Spitfires work great, but is inadequate for fast loading recurve xbows like Excals. I have spent some time figuring this out as I have always been a big fan of spitfires with regualr longbows as they are extremely accurate and deadly, but discovered they would come open when shot out of high poundag...

Re: Spitfires or Muzzy 100 gr 3 blade

Spitfires are great choice and require a lot of energy(no problem for any excal). However the blades DO open if shot out of fast loading recurves such as Excals and obviously this is proportional to Draw weight/arrow weight etc. The solution for this: 1. Ensure you do NOT overtighten the blade screw...

Crankaroo - replacement string/rope

Does anyone know where I can obtain a replacement string or rope for my Crankaroo cocking aid? It is definitely getting thin where it passes through the spools and I dont want to have a dryfire as I'm cocking it.
Thanks

Re: Anyone have problems with 100gr Spitfires?

I struggled with this for several years. Spitfires are 1 of the best mech heads on market, but they have 2 weaknesses. 1. They have a large cut diameter and no cut on contact tip, so they require A LOT of energy to open and/or pass through the target. 2. The system they utilize to lock blades closed...

crazyfarmer . . .I was ready to buy some rage broadheads until I encountered the O-ring issue with them. Is that a big deal or not? I have one here and it flew good the few times I shot it. I ran out of O-rings. Actually, the Scorpions flew like darts too. Never had one open prior to impact and I o...

I've tried both. I could not get thunderheads to group very well with my setup. That does not mean that they won't work perfectly fine in your's  Honestly, I just did not want to do the work and make the necessary adjustments to get those big heads flying correctly. I know of more than one ar...

Well put! You have to be able to hit the right spot, and in most cases Mechs have the advantage there.

Call Horton, they will explain this right away. Do not attempt to draw it until you talk to them. I have dealt with them and they have nothing but the best customer service with a 48hr turnaround if you send it in. In your case they will be able to advise you immediately what to do and you will be u...

Spitfires, plain and simple..they are the best flying, truest spinning broadhead on the market. Most of my rigs are pushing better than 300 fps and these do the job with today's modern rigs which are shoving a lot of KE. I have found them and 5" feathers have a deadly combo with about 4 degrees...
