I wear a chest harness in a tree stand and a belt while hunting from a platform. I also use a top to bottom rope with a prusic knot for platform and fixed portable stands. I use a snap clip with a high working load to attach the harness to a rope, which is tied around the tree. That way it's quiet, ...

Butt, I feel the same way. I've gotten so tired of it raining every chance I have to hunt that I picked up one of those string trackers, so I don't have to worry as much about losing the blood trail. I haven't sighted it in yet, but I'll try and do it later today, in the rain of course.

billert, following is a post about Rocky boots. Before I decided not to buy them I contacted the company and asked if they were having problems with the soles. They wrote back and basically told me that the top end boots were well made and the company would stand behind them, but if you didn't go to...

My buddy sent me the following email re. his conversation with the MNR. ____________________________________________________________ The wildlife technician was quite interested in what I had to say and he took me quite seriously. There have been reports of wolverines in Chalk River and Westmeath. B...

Excuse my lack of knowledge about bobcat hunting, but what do you do with it after you've shot it. Do you have it mounted, use the fur, eat the meat ??

A lesson learned and no deer injured, lady luck was smiling on you both. Sometimes we all need to learn from our own mistakes, not those of others. Good luck the rest of the season.

Someone just informed me that one was killed by a car 2 years ago at Union Hall, just outside of Almonte. I didn't hear about it at the time and thought we were too far south. I'd prefer not to run into one of those puppies, unless I'm in my Jeep.

Last night I was talking to a retired police officer, who's an avid and long-time hunter, and I asked him if he'd ever heard about a wolverine sighting in Eastern Ontario. He told me that a couple of years ago a wolverine was hit by a car about 80 miles from where my buddy saw the one on Saturday. S...

Wolverine question for Eastern Ontario hunters

On Saturday, my neighbour was out grouse hunting and scouting for next Saturday's opening of bow season for deer. On his way out of the bush, he saw a "funning" looking bear. It had a longer tail and a white/grey stripe down its side. He said it was about 40 pounds, and crossed the road in...
