Sharing hunting property

Last week, on the opening day of shotgun season, another hunter appraoched the land owner of the farm I was hunting while I was hunting there. Apparently this guy hunted there years ago and wanted to know if he could come back. The farmer told him no as he already had some one hunting the property. ...

The guys at a neighboring hunt camp shot a small buck one evening and had it hanging in a tree next to their cabin. We had a bit of snow over night and when they got up in the morning there was a fresh set of tracks down their laneway that went right to the hanging buck and back out their laneway.

WMU 80 Shotgun buck

Got this 4 pointer Friday morning on a farm near Breslau. Used my wifes xbow hunting set up (ground blind, scent wicks and Renzo doe decoy). He came out of a tree line on the other side of the field but I managed to call him over with a grunt tube. He was cautious and kept staring at me not giving m...

Fiber optic front sight

Does anyone know of an after market option for the front site on an Excalibur? The little green fiber optic piece has broken twice on my wife's xbow. It takes next to nothing to break these things off.

Never ever hang wild game unless you are sure it is grain fed. Enzyme action is the reason for hanging any grain fed meat. You're right about the enzyme action but it has nothing to do with being grain fed. ALL meat should be hung for at least 24 hours, I do at least three days. Besides the natural...

I spent the morning on a farm near Haysville. Never saw a thing but heard a lot of shooting in the area. In the afternoon I joined my wife at the farm she hunts between Breslau and Guelph. She was in her pop-up blind at one end of the field and I was just inside the tree line at the other. Around 4:...

During shotgun season for deer, you can use obviously shotgun, blackpowder, crossbow or bow. Not here in WMU 80. November controlled hunt is shotgun/muzzleloader only and December is muzzleloader/archery only. Bows have to go away durung the first week of November. Why not just carry the muzzleload...

I checked out the forum you're talking about. Just a rumour and, despite repeated posts, the guy never says where he heard it. Some one even asks and he still doesn't say. Hey, this guy thinks that only the disabled are allowed to use crossbows in the States. I like his comments about the court batt...

It's all about decoy spreads and calling. I can't beleive you can't find anyone to go. A lot of people in our area are looking for good place to goose hunt. I love hunting geese but the next two week-ends are dedicated to deer.

In the past I have seen shotgun totting hunters spray six shots from a pump shotgun as fast as an auto-feeding rifle could. I definitely do not feel that this is sporting and it is very dangerous. I would rather have one well placed shot to dispatch such a magnificent creature as the whitetail deer...

Any good drop point will do. I'm the odd guy out here in that I hate gut hooks. Great for cutting the deer open but an absolute pain in the hind end while working inside an animal especially larger ones like moose. Those hooks are always getting caught on something and doing damage. Used one once an...

I shoot a Thompson/Center Hawken .54 cal. percussion. For hunting it's Hornady Great Plains 425 grain conicals, hollowpoint, hollow base, 110 gr. of FFg. At the range I often shoot patched ball with 90 gr. FFg. behind it.

Rifle hunt in WMU 49 with either a Model 94 30-30 or a Savage 99 in 300 Savage. Hunt the controlled hunt on WMU 80 with either a 12ga. Browning BPS or a Thompson/Center .54 cal. Hawken muzzle loader.
