STS Installation Question

Put my STS on today. Installation was easy. Will shoot it tomorrow to see how much of a difference in noise there is. It came with 2 short pieces of waxed string. Can someone tell me what these are for. The instructions that came with the STS did not mention these strings. Thanks

Cleaning bolts before fletching

I have heard of people using acetone or alcohol to clean aluminum shafts before fletching them. Will both of these work or is there something better. Do carbon shafts have to be cleaned before fletching. What works well to clean the carbon shafts. Thanks

Stands

The only tree stand accident I ever had was when a screw in step broke as I was climbing a tree to get in my stand and I fell. I never could quite get over that. I was always nervous climbing on screw in steps after that. Lock on stands being small always made me a bit nervous also. I feel very safe...

Glue for Bolts

Am I correct when I assume that Fletchtite only works for putting vanes or feathers on aluminum shafts where as Goat Tuff Glue will attach vanes or feathers to aluminum or carbon shafts as well as glue in inserts in both aluminum and carbon shafts. Thanks

Stand

I have a Summit Goliath because I am 6:2/250 in the fall. 270 after x-mas. The Goliath is bigger than the Viper for large people. Summit makes an even larger stand, but I forget its name. I wish I had bought it because I am a little snug in my Goliath when it is 15 degrees out and I have 4 layers of...

Goat Tuff Glue

Does Goat Tuff Glue last a long time in the bottle once you open it, or does it go bad after a while like Gorilla glue does once the bottle has been open.

Custom Bolts

I like shooting short bolts. I am looking to have some 18 inch gold tip laser 2s made. I would like them to have an aluminum insert on one end and a brass insert on the other. I would like the inserts to come with my order loose so I could put lum e noks in 2 or 3 of the bolts. I would like 3 4 inch...

Lumizone scope

Can someone tell me what the field of view at 100 yds is for the varizone and the Lumizone. I am concerned about just seeing brown fur in the scope if a deer is close. Has anyone had this problem. Are these scopes one power or more powerful than that? Sorry to be a bit off topic, but this thought ca...

Signs of second rut

Anyone seeing signs of the second rut. Last week in northern Ohio I saw some scrapes that had been hit in the snow and opened. I do not know if they would be considered the end of the first rut or the beginning of the second. Anyone else seeing anything along these lines.

Rut

I am seeing less over all buck movement up here just south of Lake Erie. However the last 2 weeks of Nov. before gun season is when I see the biggest bucks while bow hunting. I hit it hard right up till gun season. Some of the biggest bucks I have seen while bow hunting have been on the days around ...

Ohio Dept. of Nat. Resources Bowhunter Observation Record

Does anyone else participate in this study. I keep a journal of all the wild life I see on my bowhunts so it is easy for me to fill this paper out. The ODNR uses it to study animal populations.

I am think about getting some Lumenoks. I am pondering if I should just get 1 or if should I get 3. There is a lot I do not know about them. Is there a battery in a lumenok. Does anyone know how long the battery will last. Will it last years since there is a LED in the lumenok. Thanks
