I sanded and basically stripped my favorite martin longbow about ten years ago i used deft satin outdoor urethane spray the bows been thru hell n back and the finish looks new. Deft is not expensive either.I highly recommend it if your wondering what to coat it with.

As a general rule a recurve usually has a string 4 inches shorter than the straite line groove to groove as the others said a higher brace height would definitely benefit a kid with less arm slap .

Without all the technical aspects .I can assure you them arrows wiill fly like darts with either a 100 or 125 grain mechanical and at 40 yards there will be very little difference with either weight .I have found the 125 grain to group a tad better at longer ranges.

Last year i put the doghouse in a month before hunting i brushed it in real good no deer scareing. This year mother nature took over and its part of the bushes i will post a pic . When im out again.
