Re: Deer meat

Joe Your post made me chuckle. I was raised on a farm. We had our own pigs, cattle and chickens....and lots of deer. My sandwiches for school were deer meat, and I'm pretty sure that the rest of the kids had the same. Everyone sold what was raised and ate deer. That changed after I left home. Then m...

Re: The sky is not falling

My observation to young people who were planning to enter as self employed in my profession, was this.

Anyone who will be self employed will have an a$$hole for a boss. Can anyone explain to me what a holiday is like? Sorry, Off topic.

Papa bear
Having your parcels delivered to the neighbor’s trash bin would sure be annoying for you.

Did you ever consider, though, how annoying it might be for your neighbor? Maybe you need to think about making your own bin a bit bigger?

Re: Well i bit the preverbal bullet

your bow has high level energy. you can use that up by shooting light arrows faster. Or, you can shoot heavier arrows as fast as "normal" bows. So, it depends on what you plan to hunt. If you have a hummingbird season in your area, and that is going to be your target species, go for the fl...

Re: Happy Memorial Day

Does anyone know when the date for Memorial Day was assigned? Why was this date chosen? Countries with a British tradition recognize 11 November, and that date was the date the Armistice took effect, ending WWI. The purpose of these separate days is the same, I think. Since WWI was a shared experien...

Re: OT: Reintroducing Canada's Long Gun Registry

Nog If the rules aren't clearer than the news release sets out, they have left a loop hole. It doesn't require approval of the "Registry" for a holder of a PAL (Possession and Acquisition Licence) to borrow a firearm. Now, before i lend my shotgun, I want a damage deposit. I want full mark...

Re: OT: Vimy Ridge

If I ever manage a trip to Europe, that’s one place I will visit.

It helps to explain why Canadian troops were chosen for Dieppe, as hopeless and futile an exercise that it was.

Re: OT: Moose Hunt Giveaway!

In 1989 I did a Yukon sheep hunt. We travelled on horseback. I prepared for the hunt by running, and I could keep up with guides when we went on foot. I didn’t prepare for the horseback riding. I didn’t have access to a horse so I could toughen up my leg, groin, butt, and back muscles. I didn’t have...

Re: Adding weight to an arrow

I seem to remember someone saying that some weights were stackable. In other words, the male threaded end would thread into the back of another weight.

If that’s true, how could you tighten the union? Doesn’t seem like any wrench could work?

Thanks, wheelsquad.
Norm, your point about weight and bulk is valid. However, I have vision issues which compel me to look for any optical benefit I can get.

Re: Laser ranging bow sights

I've handled both the Garmin x1i and the Burris Oracle X. I preferred the Burris in every way. Well, you are a long ways ahead of me. I haven’t even touched either one! It sounds as though you didn’t get a chance to test them on a bow. What brings you to your conclusion?? Thanks for your input.

Re: Laser ranging bow sights

Nog That is the crossbow model It has a variety of reticles in various Color’s. The sighting in process establishes what your arrow speed is and thereafter a single aim point is shown where the arrow should strike, out to 80 yards. Automatically. Dan Garmin has videos. There are a few reviews. It’s ...

Laser ranging bow sights

I live in a small community which has very limited archery supplies conveniently available. That means when I hear about laser, ranging bowsights, nobody has them in stock. So, as intriguing as the Garmin X1i model sounds, there is no chance for any “hands on” examination. Pictures on paper with a w...

Re: Which Cooler?

Yeti was the first cooler brand that I noticed that seemed to be designed to do its job. I bought one asap afterwards. The cheap crap ones I had been using were given away or consigned to yard sale. I still have my Yeti. Why? Because it was built to last. And do its job. There may now be similar qua...
