IAMCANADIAN - wicked story....I think I would have run back tomy stand for the night....

At moose camp, we have about 4-5 guys that will not step foot in the bush at dark...they are usually at camp before it gets pitch black.

You're not alone.

Moose Hunting

Well there are 6 of us heading up on Friday for an archery hunt. We have 2 bull tags and a cow tag, so if the moose cooperate, I should be able to post a few photos when I get back. 5 of us are shooting excals.

I had a post up a week or so ago stating that the groundounder mount I won last year has not been put to use. I will donate it to the youngest hunter in the photo contest.

That's a tough one. I hunt with a lot of different guys, and the only guy that I always hunt with (his brother is the same way too) is the guy that is always ready. We've been hunting for years together and I never have to wait for him. At camp we both wake up and can be ready within 10 minutes. I k...

I was not giving my opinion that it SHOULD be an excal only contest, it was just a suggestion as that was where the conversation was heading. I am fine with any picture...a personal trophy is a personal trophy, as long as you did not use a vehicle to kill it. I was merely suggesting that by making i...

If we had an excal only contest, perhaps the folks at excal would be a little more interested in the contest. I'm thinking the winning photo gets posted to the main excal site or in one of their brochures, along with a nice little gift (new sling, new bag...something small but appreciated)

Groundpounder Mount

Last year I won 3rd place (I think) in the deer hunting contest from a nice buck I got in the snow. I was lucky enough to receive a groundpounder mount, and thought I would give it to my neighbour's kid. He ended up buying a compound bow and does not need it. Myself, I don't mount my quiver to my bo...

Rage Broadheads

I bought myself the Rage 3 blade, and when I take them out of the package, the blades all kind of dangle. I can push back in place, but is there something else I should be doing.

I had the same problem. Last year put the STS on with my Boo string and the bumpers were not only touching the string, they were actually holding them out a little. THis year I cut my STS rods so that when I slip my bumpers on, you can't even see the rods. Now they sit 1/8 of an inch off the string ...

I'm not a huge fan of the meat also, tried two, and to me, they both tasted like crap. Everytime I golf I try and hit one with a ball just to do my part for the numbers.

I would agree that most guys use 100 grain broadheads with the firebolts. I myself, after several months of reading on this website, now have an educated opinion that I want a combo weighing in around the 450grains. The firebolt is made to shoot with the boltcutter broadhead which is a 150 grain bro...

Big58 hit it right on the nose....if I spot and stalk whitetails in the bush, no where around farms, food plots etc...does that make me more of a hunter than the guy that works all year putting in food plots and sitting in a nice warm tree house... Hunting is personal and that is how it should be. I...

You boys need to subscribe to a magazine called Ontario Monster Whitetails...one read and you would all be shivering...(well maybe not you Iowa boys)

I like the thread though, will make for some harmless ribbing for the next 4 months.

Ask Ray to go back and see if there are any crows around. Usually when a hunter is positive he had a good shot, he did. But like Grizz said, blood does not always come spurting out at the kill site.
