New vert bow/shoulder testing

With my son projected to cut heavily into my time behind the Exomax this season I was in need of another bow. I got rid of my previous vert bow following a shoulder injury in 2006. I picked up a new Diamond "Rock" 70# bow last weekend. Initially I thought 70# may be a bit much for the shou...

I was up a tree last Saturday hunting doe. It was a bad day. A long story I'd care to forget. To make the story short, there is nothing fresh in the freezer.

I've got my free Hammerhead screwed on a Firebolt. With a little luck maybe I can post some real world testing within the next week. I agree that the blades are not as heavy as what you see on most NAP broadheads. But those heads are 1.5" cut and less. You have to give up a little mass somewher...

Taking a mature whitetail buck in an urban setting is no walk in the park. Very true. In some cases it isn't even legal. There are a number of localities that allow urban hunting in this area for population control and quite a few limit the hunting to doe only. If they want more participation they ...

I'd pay $89 for that! It accomplishes the mission and I wouldn't cry (as bad) if it came up missing.

Today I got my new meat grinder in the mail. Hopefully by this time next week I'll get to test it out with a fresh doe. For me antlerless opens down the road on Saturday.

In WV I can't use my crossbow at all. Just over the mountain in VA I can hunt doe from Sept 5 to Oct 2, except Sundays, and can take two per day. From Oct 3 till Oct 30, except Sundays, I can take up to three bucks and unlimited doe (unlimited tags for purchase) with a two-per day limit. Then ...

muzzler, Slicks were the same way for me using stock Firebolts out of my Exomax. I couldn't keep them in a pie plate at 20 yards. I added brass inserts to the Firebolts to increase FOC and now they shoot EXACTLY like my field points. The only drawback was the speed loss of the heavier arrow. Granted...

I have the 4-arrow standard quiver. On two hunts I've used two arrows. Two deer came home each time.

On one hunt I used all FOUR arrows. I did bag a doe with the third arrow. Its a long story. Most people would have stopped after the first arrow.

Without ScentLok I bagged a 9-point and a 7-point in 2007. With ScentLok I bagged an 8-point and another 8-point in 2008. Did it make a difference? Not really. How I hunted and the wind direction made far more difference than any scent containment. I agree with Mike P. I think using the proper camo ...

I smelled it this weekend. It smelled like smoke from an old 2-cycle weed eater as it cleared a nice path all the way to my tree stand.

put a stand above that y. every buck that runs up and down the creek/ditch will pass thru there coming or going. I agree. The topo shows a nice nice creek bed through the middle. Big bucks like a good out of view travel route. Its hard to tell how much room you have without a scale but it looks lik...
