I had a few of my factory fire bolts do the same thing as you are describing. I think it was just having to pull them out of the target I was using at the time. It was just too much force on the inserts.

I use a cardboard box and stuffed it with old clothes. Just make sure you cut the zippers and buttons off first. Works fine on field points and easy to pull out. I took an office hole puncher and punch out some reflective tape. I use the dots on the flat insert at the end of the arrow in case the arrow does go in the ground I can still recover it with my flashlight. Cheap, and effective.

My luck the battery or winch would take a crap and be stuck up in a tree. Can lighten it by using alum. and down size certain features. Don't think the spreader bar feature would be used. Especially right under the tree I'm hunting.
