Thanks for all the info guys. Will probably pick up a few of each to see which one it likes.

Digger, do those 18" 2213's work pretty good on small deer?

Alum bolts for Vixen

My wife wants to use alum bolts in her Vixen and the question is which size would you recommend: 2213 or 2216 and would you cut them to 18" or leave them at 20"? Thanks for any info.

Met Bill T

Went to the Southern Sportsman's Classic in Nashville yesterday and met Bill T there. I had sent him an email or two about a problem I was having with my Phoenix and he remembered me and the problem. He gave me some tips and suggestions but I haven't had a chance to try them yet except for one which...

Finish wear

Not a big deal but was wondering if it is normal for the finish to wear on the side of the rail? I guess it's from using the rope cocker. I am shooting a Phoenix. Am I putting the hooks to tight to the side of the rail when I use the rope cocker? Like I said not a big deal but was wondering if I am ...

Thanks for the info from all. Think I'll take Digger's advice and not use the razor knife for the xacto knife. It will be my luck to mess up the bolts. How about that ZipStrip, how does it do? Is it easy enough to use? Hope you all will bear with me cause I'm new to this stuff. Thanks again.

Fletching Remover

Just wondering what is a good fletching remover? Thinking about refletching my bolts before the season so I can find them but not sure which remover to use. Looked at the Zip Remover but it seems sort of expensive. Guess I could use just a sharp razor knife. Thanks for any info.

I came real close to sending you a PM on the Vixen, Real Close!! I got the Phoenix for my first bow just last month and I am real happy with it but am thinking it may be too much bow for these small deer. Looks like you'll have to change your signature now....

30 years with a vertical - 1 month with an xbow. I got the Phoenix and am really impressed with the accuracy. I think the more I use it the more I am going to like it. Need to keep the vert though as I have been planning on hunting a military base that does not allow xbows yet.

Thanks Digger. Think Midway has them on sale. Around $23 but they are currently out. When they get them back in stock I think I'll get one. Seems a little long at 53" though but it will work.

Nice deer Deadeye. Are you hunting on private land? I didn't do much hunting this year but did some at Cheatham and saw way more hunters than deer.

Digger,

Is that a Flambeau double case? If it is a Flambeau it seems to be pretty inexpensive. Looks like a good way to carry a xbow behind the truck seat.

Well went to get a Vixen like I had planned but the plan came apart real quick and a Phoenix came home with me instead. Both bows felt real good but once I added the extras to the Vixen like the dissapator bars the Phoenix was only $30 more and the camo does look real good on it. Now to save up a li...

Thanks to all the responses. I have made my decision to purchase a Vixen after the Holidays, unless I find a used Phoenix reasonably priced, and learn to use it well before the next deer season. As noted I will limit my shots to 30 yards or less. One further question if you don't mind: Can I use the...

Almost decided

Hi to all. I have been reading this forum for some time getting info and ideas for a xbow purchase and have come down to the Vixen and Phoenix. I know they both are good bows and capable for deer and I don't want to go any higher than the Phoenix. Here's my question: Is there any real good reason fo...
