This may be silly, but should you alternate which side you add turns to while tightening up a string? Or will it matter in the end?

I daydreamed up an idea for the stock of my Browning .270 as it has a number of wear/battle scars. It's just a prototype, I plan to make another add 1 or 2 more bullet sleeves and better finish etc. And lace it properly. Basically, it's personal preference. There is no real proof one is better than the other imo.
