Natives hunt in remote regions and in times/places when others aren't in the woods. Our rifle deer seasons look like an invasion of orange vested soldiers! I'd hope you wouldn't want to get shot by a rifle hunter taking you for a bear up a tree! Although I do not condone "shooting eagles" ...

Not sure if this helps, but ever consider moving to another spot? Sounds like they're not coming in because you are in a spot that isn't thick enough. The deer feel uneasy if there isn't any cover for them to sneak up along to get to you...so they wait until dark to move past/to you.

I went on our opening weekend rifle hunt. Saw ZERO deer. I spoke to every other hunter in the area hunting in different spots, NOTHING! The nights around here have been very clear and I believe most of their feeding is happening during the night. The days have been warm and sunny too and I s...

Be sure and talk to your local authorities. They should be able to refer you to some experts.

I like to shoot every kind of weapon (that's allowed  ). The crossbow is just one more toy/device in my arsenal. I still use my vert bow when bow hunting...and will also use my crossbow whenever it is allowed here in Quebec (rumors are it will be allowed for everyone, in every zone, in 2007).
