Wyvern String Question

I got my Wyvern string in the mail today and I'm very impressed with the quality. However, after installing it, it sets about 3/4" about the highest recommended brace height marker. I have very little twist in it. I let it sit cocked for an hour or two the carried it and and fired it. No strect...

Re: Which arrow setup would you prefer?

I have a friend of mine who has been using Vortex, probably since the beginning. He's taken African game with them, too. They cut an axe-blade sized hole.

Re: O/T Gun registry here to stay

Gun control is less about controlling guns, and more about controlling people. More guns, less crime. I have a concealed handgun on me at all times when I'm out in public. As gun sales skyrocket in America, crime rates drop. Oh, yeah, our president and his ilk hate it. I just hope we dethrone him an...

Re: Which arrow setup would you prefer?

That 110 grn insert will make up for the light heads, as long as you keep 10-12% FOC. I prefer broadheads with 1 1/8-1 1/4 cutting diameters. Two inch cuts increase friction and eat energy up bigtime.

Re: Passthrough

I forgot to mentionthat short, light arrows like crossbow bolts shed energy quickly. Keep your shots around 35 yards and in.

Re: Passthrough

Brand doesn't matter to me, my friend. It's a personal choice. I prefer the recuve limbs for simplicity. As for your question, velocity factors in to the formula for kenetic engery: Velocity squared times projectile weight, divided by 450,240. With an arrow weight of 350 grns and a velocity of 345 f...

Re: Anyone use a red dot?

With my compound bow, while shooting 3-D archery, I encountered a target once at 5 yards. Holding low wouldn't have worked. I used my forty yard pin! Shot the twelve ring, too. At that distance you can use all of your pins! Found that out on a boar hunt.

Re: Easton Power Bolts

Thanks, Guys! I need to approach the crossbow as I did with other bows all these years. Listening to others and learning from them, reading everything I can I find, and experimentation.

Re: Flemish String Stretch

The flemish string on my excal is all I've ever known. After the stretching is over, they're fantastic. I've decided to expand my knowledge of corssbow's and try different accessories to be more knowledgeable. I ordered a Wyvern sting a couple of days ago after reading about them here. I've been sho...

Easton Power Bolts

I just got some new Power Bolts today. I always take a Sharpie and color the end of my inserts, then check the squareness with a G5 A.S.D tool. Then I weigh my broadheads again and get an average weight, then the arrows. With my 100 grn. Muzzy MX-3's my total arrow weight is averaging 417 grns. I bu...

Re: Anyone use a red dot?

I use a red dot sight for gator hunting at night, but prefer a scope like the Max Zone or Vari-Zone.

Re: Newb got new Axiom and 1st Deer w/it!!

Congrats! Welcome to the forum! We are waking up to our 12th day of the GA archery season. It's been close to 100 degrees for the last few days. I've only hunted two mornings... nothing but squirrels.

Re: Gator Hunt Update

All of the gear is from Muzzy, except the floats. I had those already. I went with a Red Dot sight on Mark Land's recommendation. He's the guru of all things bowfishing, gator hunting, and all their products.
