Re: When is it enough too many tags and wounded deer
If you don't think a unrecovered deer should count, how many unrecovered deer should you be allowed??? 2? 3? 4? keep shooting till one falls dead in front of you??? Because unfortunately there are some like that out there. _______________________ My two cents... yes there are some out there like th...

Re: warm boots
Vapor-barrier designs are bulky but work like a thermos, and those toe warmer thingies might be promising... But While you are researching boots (and I'm paying attention to suggestions because I know the misery of frozen feet!) also consider that sometimes a warm HEAD and core is the secret to keep...

Re: Swhacker Broadhead Failure
I'll try to remember my own comments and hope I don't eat my words in coming weeks as I've just made the "leap" ( in $$ and hype anyway) from store bought Remington cor-lokts to handloads with fancy schmancy Accubonds this rifle season... I'm sure it'll make ALL the difference

Re: Swhacker Broadhead Failure
Thanks for post as im considering switching to a mechanical and this is food for thought. Folks including OP have thrown out a bunch of plausible explanations for the mechanical failure here. One I didn't see was is there any chance the bh hit a stick or something on way to your deer? Id imagine it'...

Re: Had him in the crosshairs....
I showed some restraint of sorts today too, but it was nothing noble. Not complaining it was great but i spent a LOOOONG cold day sitting in the stand watching armies of squirrels, woodpeckers, hawks, etc and only bit of excitement was one nervous doe juuuuust out of comfort range early in the morni...

Re: Had him in the crosshairs....
Woodspike you have more ambition or patience or scruples or something than I have... and what a really cool photo to show for it! I say frame that sucker and hang it next to any other trophies you have. Hope you catch up with the monster you want! Keep at it and I'm betting you will.

Re: horrible feeling
I admit this has happened to me a couple times -- including once with a .30-06 and a big bloodtrail and a daylong search. It really stinks, and I can relate with your experience and how disheartening it is. Others here on the forum are more expert than I at shot placement, broadheads, angles, and tr...

http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b597/grousegrove/photo.jpg My first deer of the season is down, at Quantico Marine Base. And it's the first ever with my crossbow. 0915, 23 yard shot from treestand, the broadhead broke his shoulder, hit heart and lungs, and created a nice big drain valve on the ...

Re: Flemish string construction & twists
...After my initial twist / brace calculations I left the bow cocked most of yesterday and shot it abt 20x. Then today Went out and shot it in earnest for hours seeking good groups and trying out the three Lumenock equipped bolts I recently bought. All seemed to go well with the Flemish string. Can'...

Re: Flemish string construction & twists
Thanks for the confirmation, I'm looking forward to checking it out. Had to chuckle at your admonition that "if it shoots consistantly, dont' fret it" because the Vortex has been shooting very consistantly all along and I had no issues before I put the upgraded string on it... so I had som...
