With the 2006 season coming to a close I thought I’d share some of the thoughts and revelations I experienced this year. Some people may agree with me on some things, some may disagree....

I'd say get a Vixen. Easy to cock for those longer shooting sesions at the range. It's no slouch as a deer hunting bow either. Eight shotguns???? That's it???? If you're like the rest of us shotgunners you need one for waterfowl over decoys, one for waterfowl pass shooting, one for quail, one for gr...

Grizz, I certainly don't claim to know it all. I know different things can work for different people. But I'm also aware that the old time methods of some of these old buckskinners are still practiced more for their traditional value than their practical value. I've been shooting black powder for ye...

I've been doing formal target shooting (and coaching) on and off most of my life and I can't beleive some of what I'm reading here. you can't hold still when shooting without a rest anyway This is not true! It's true that you may not be able to hold as perfectly still as you would with a rest you ca...

I'm sure if you do a search you can find some info. And I'm sure if you confront the retailer they will know exactly what you're talking about. The warranty of merchantability means that the product will be "fit for the ordinary purpose for which a products is used" or something like that....

I'd go back and remind them of a thing called "Warranty of Merchantability". If they, as a retailer, are going to sell you something as a newly manufactured item they are required to stand behind it for a period of at least 30 days. It's the law here in Ontario. It's up to them to deal wit...

We use the same as early season, RealTree Hardwoods or a similar knock-off. I was out with my wife this past Monday and I watched from my blind as she headed along the tree line to hers and I tell ya, if she would have been standing still I would have had to look twice to see her. It was one of thos...

Anyone hunting Hopewell Creek Rd?????

On my way home from work I've noticed a couple of guys hunting off Hopewell Creek Rd. between Spitzig Rd. and Ebycrest Rd. near Breslau. It looks like they both have Excaliburs and I know a lot of local guys frequent this board. Just wondering if it's anyone here.

Hawg hunter has it right, kinda. The 30-30 has always been a smokeless powder round, the second 30 denoting 30 grains of smokeless powder. but it actually didn't come out until 1895. The legendary Model 1894 rifle was originally made in 32-40, 38-55 and 44-40. It wasn't until the second year of prod...

When hunting we challenge all the deers senses. We challenge the hearing so we remain quiet in the bush, wear quiet clothes (I don't think you're going to wear a full nylon suit hunting), and obsess about how quiet our equipment is. We challenge sight so we where camo, sit in tree stands or ground b...

I do not degrade a buck by putting tags on him before their pics, FINAL! I agree, that's why I find it handy to carry a camera with me in the field. I always photgraph, tag, field dress and transport. But as for the future keep your holier then thou comments off my threads. In defense of DesertRat ...
