Awesome, congrats on his first buck.

My grand daughter got her first buck a week ago with the Exocet. It was a five pointer.

Thanks for the congrats and thank you Excalibur.

You know, I was just thinking, I wonder if I got a shot less than 30 yards if I would be as successful? LOL

Ohio Rut

I just watch a buck cross an 800 yard wide field without ever taken his nose off the ground. The buck never paused once as he walked, almost trotted, across the field. Does this mean that the "rut" is on here in Ohio?

Was the buck tracking a doe in estrus?

Deet last Evening

Back was bothering me yesterday, so I stayed around the house watching some football and doing domestic chores until around 1:45. Wife wanted me to go to a church function earlier but I refused, so I was at the house alone. My buddy ladder stand is about 600 yards from the house. I decided I would g...

I've hunted with a crossbow for near twenty years now. My first year with an Excalibur Exocet. Last year was my first year for strictly using a crossbow. I was unable to hold even a compound bow this time last year. My suggestion is to go to a local shop where you can shoot a crossbow. You can make ...

I would not have gone after it right away. I would have let him settle down and wait until morning to try to recover the buck. Never a good idea to chase after a injured deer. Let 'em lay down and stiffen up. If not dead in the morning might need to but another bolt in him. IMO, you did the correct ...

I applaud Grizzly Adam's post. There is much truth in his statements and personal opinions. I have read the article on the website which Mr. T.B. stated his results and findings. In the year that I have had the MLII, I have fired over 500 shots with varying loads. Some loads with very heavy recoil, ...

Good Luck !!!

There are plenty of deer in that area.

Remember to post pictures...

I saw 3 bucks this morning that would score between 110 to 135.

They were in the yard and wife says that I not allowed to shoot anything in the yard area until they start eating our trees or flowers.

I bought a Savage 10MLII in October 2005 to use in the Ohio gun season. (I had given my flintlock & percussion to my sons) I had intended to use Pyrodex or T7 with the Savage, but after trying smokeless powder I can not bring myself to use anything else. Call me lazy but as much as I like to sho...

Loosing one is the worst feeling a hunter can have. It happens, keep your chin up. I lost a very good one last year, Shot at dusk from a treestand. The shot put the buck down in his tracks but he got back up and took off in the direction he had came. My son and I tracked into the evening with heavy ...
