Re: Best 2" plus Mechanical Broadhead

I have an older carved tip Exomag and can't shoot Spitfires out of the pack. They tend to open on me and cause real erratic flight. I haven't tried to "O" ring them but have stayed with Wasp cam locks fixed blade. I usually only have a 75 yard max recovery with a lung shot, heart shot is c...

Re: Wheres the old timers?

Just a short followup. Wheelie's response to my post on page 1 is another reason this old bull sits back.I enjoy posts like Laura's Ohio hunt and Vixchix's appreciation of her husband, all the successful hunts and all our personal hurts and trials. I miss Woody Williams 'cause I LOVE Calvin. I can't...

Re: Wheres the old timers?

I guess I'm one of the old timers. 61 years old and been hunting and fishing as long as I can remember. I enjoy watching the pups grow, whether on this site or another I belong to. Most of us old bulls have been mentored, have and still are mentoring the young bulls coming up the ranks. The newest k...

Re: the secret to success, do I NEED a new bow?

Good subject Wabi. I've been at this game for a couple years. Started out with a used Barnett Comando. 20 yards was a long shot and sometimes a heart stopper. I could watch the bolt arc, almost float to the deer. I learned early that 10 - 15 yards was my best range. Never had a pass through and lear...

Re: Bizarre game camera picture!!!

WDIV Channel 4 in Detroit has picked this up and has it on their web site. Says it's from a deer tree stand in Louisianna in December, I figure it got loose when the BP rig exploded and was released from Hell

Re: Anatomy of a spine shot???

I spined a 8 point that got up about 3 minutes later and had real poor control of his hind legs. I was able to get another arrow in the chest and he died fast then. The first broadhead hit high on the spine and didn't actually hit the spinal cord. The broadhead was still in the upper bone, kind of a...

Re: Visit from the MNR tonight.

4 of us just finished up the controlled hunt yesterday, 3 bucks and 1 doe. We're in 93B and didn't see a Yogi all week. A few years ago we were checked coming out of the field. The son of my long time hunting/fishing buddy was about 17 at the time and just got a used 12 gauge. Unknown to any of us i...

Re: Rope cocker

I found some 1/8" nylon braided rope at CTC a few years back. Pink and White. Colours are a little "non masculine  " but when it falls out of my pocket it's easy to spot. I think 25 feet was about $4.

Refletching in SW Ontario

I have 10 original Excalibur 2117 bolts that need new fletching. I want the original helical on them. Can anyone suggest someone that does good work. I'll send them wherever if it's too far to drive from the Chatham Area.
Cheers and Good Luck this season everybody

My Exomag is about 12 years old. I'm 60 and this old girl and I will be unseparable again this season. "If it ain't broke don't fix it".

Re: Older Excal models from 95-04 & why they're Valued ?

I have a 94 Exomag I bought from Bill at the factory that I wouldn't trade for any other bow. It's got deer every year, shoots as good as it ever did and when I had a trigger issue, when it was about 10 years old, Excalibur fixed it for free. I only paid 1 way shipping. Still shoot aluminum arrows a...

Re: Carnivorous deer?!?!?

Years ago there was a video showing a deer eating baby killdeer in their nest. The weirdest I have seen is a doe eating hickory nuts. I wouldn't have believed that if I didn't see it.

Re: had a bit of a medical scare (worry) yesterday

Try not to stew too much. Worry's the enemy. Last May I had some discomfort, did the tests and they did the angio/stent thing (2). Come Oct. I had one of my best moose and early Nov. deer shotgun hunts. No pain, discomfort and I could walk further than the kids. BTW I'm 60 and the oldest in the grou...

One of my mentors told me a long time ago that "It's a good thing we're hunting them (deer) and they're not hunting us"

Re: Tree Steps vs Climbing Sticks

About 15 years ago I fell about 12 feet when a climber came out of a tulip tree I was hunting. Thankfully no serious damage but a load of hurt. Then I bought a 36 foot aluminum extention ladder, Home cammo paint job on both sections. Then I have 2 -18 footers for 2 stands. I hunt private land so the...
