Re: Doe tags

In GA we do not buy tags or even use tags. You get 12 deer allowed with your license of which only 10 can be antlerless and two bucks with one having to have a minimum of 4 points on a side. There are twelve places on the license to mark the date killed and what County killed in. Ten are marked as ...

Re: Doe tags

Anterless tags guys, not doe tags. No such thing as a doe tag here in Ontario. You need to have the antlerless tag in order to shoot spike bucks with less than 3" of antler.

How much are you guys down south paying per tag/deer? I believe it was $49 here?

Re: My meat grinder Sucks!

Nobody has mentioned temperature thus far, which is so important that some grinders are capable of mounting an ice/gel pack on the grinder before the cutter to help keep everything cold. The colder the meat, the easier it is to grind. Especially when there's lots of sinew and silver skin. Some peopl...

Re: Turkey day molested by the lady warden

Hey after reading the regs you were perfectly legal. You were in your man made blind. The way the regs read is that you can not make one out of natural material. To me it is nit picking. I'm sure if you go to court you will win. Good luck with your decision. Keep us posted. As silly of a regulation...

Re: Warning for Southern Ontario turkey hunters

You are right about being late to the party on Lyme`s . We had a guest speaker a couple of years ago at out Annual meeting . He said he had to remortgage his house and go stateside . Because the doctors refuse to acknowledge it is here because they will get disciplined if they diagnose it ....

Re: Warning for Southern Ontario turkey hunters

This is just an observation but I noticed that with the rising numbers of ticks we are also seeing a rising number of opossums, u think theirs a relation? No idea if they're related, but I did have a pet opossum when I was a kid and it was the coolest pet I have ever had. Even litter trained the li...

Re: magnus bull heads

A turkey (gobbler) that hears calling from an area and responds by simply showing up expects to find other turkeys. If they come and there is nothing there they will quit responding after it happens a time or two. On the other hand if they show and there is a human they see they will avoid that are...

Re: Warning for Southern Ontario turkey hunters

Permethrin works great, problem her in Canada is that it is illegal to use. I still purchase it in the USA and will continue to use it on all my hunting cloths Illegal in Canada for use in products destined to be used on humans, but you can get livestock spray that contains permethrin. Hit up TSC o...

Re: Bulldog 400 Chronograph Results

After shooting many bolts through the chrony, the consistent speeds for us shooting 350 grains are:

Bulldog 400 - 396-397 fps
Matrix 405 - 406-407 fps

I haven't experimented with changing brace height to see if I can squeak anymore speed. Waiting on warm weather for that...

Re: Proposed Ontario 2017 Turkey Regulations

Good to see some changes in the regulations. It's almost time to get out there. This evening while having dinner we were watching 6 toms in the field with 3 of them taking turns chasing each other around with their necks stretched straight out and with ruffled feathers. I should have got out the vid...

Re: Slug Gun Question-UPDATE

I know the OP has already chosen a gun, but figure I'll toss in my two cents for anyone interested. Last season I picked up an H&R ultra light slug hunter 20 gauge and it's a dream to carry because it's so compact and light. The 1" groups at 100 yards and 1.5-2" groups at 150 yards are...

Re: hunting use for drones?

Tim50, the difference between a trail camera and a drone is the trail camera can only provide surveillance of one specific spot while the drone high above can show you acres of land. When there is snow on the ground you could easily see every deer within a few hundred yards in every direction of the...

Re: Deer Hunting in a Blizzard??

Blizzards are a good time to hunt! Deer are hunkered down and usually bedded waiting out the storm and are fairly easy to stalk up on. The heavy falling snow and wind does a good job of masking most sound you would make. You got it. Nothing beats the rush of sneaking up so close to deer that you co...

Re: Foxpro electronic predator calls?

Checkout Icotech electronic calls. They're relatively new to selling their own brand, but the company has been making electronic calls for other brands for quite some time so they know what they're doing. My $200 unit has a 100 yard+ wireless range, is extremely easy to add sounds, and it works grea...
