Re: Blood trails
It is better in many ways to place your arrow lower. Blood trails sooner and insurance in case the deer drops. If you are shooting from an elevated stand, an entrance higher than an exit make for quick blood trails and if shot placement is correct, quick recovery. Elevated stands aren’t always poss...

Re: Wild Game Cooking
Don’t have any pics, but, we had a chili cook off at church last week. Colton had killed a feral hog and I got to pay for processing, so I used that ground meat for the chili. I got a third place!!😁 it wound up being 15 pots of chili in it so it wasn’t a huge competition but … and yes I put some bea...

Re: I don't know about you guys but...
I fully understand!!  Last fall wasnt unusual. Three weeks ago, son Colton texted that his truck was on fire and would probably be totaled. Yep, burned to the ground. Next morning I had just gotten to work and got cords and hoses out, tools out, and started when my phone rang. Oldest dau...

Re: Packing deer out
When we elk hunted in Colorado, we hunted in a Wilderness area. That means on foot or on horseback. Not being much of a horseman, A good pack frame is your buddy. Hind on a bull is ballpark 90 lbs. All the load I could do . On deer a friend told me if you field dress them, cut the legs at the knees,...

Re: 2024 Season
Drew a tag for one of the area lakes for a two week window the first two weeks of season, Oct 1-15. I was really busy and only managed a couple of sits. Lots of sightings but only shot opportunity was a little buck and he didnt have enough antler to meet the antler restrictions. I also drew a tag fo...

LEUPOLD! smaller, lighter, and much brighter than any others. Just get one and be done with it. Life is too short to complicate things. AND....the only warranty that may be better than Excalibur.(and the best part is you wont have to use it) The only down side to Leupold is that you will become very...

Re: Wool pants
When we were going to Colorado most years, I bought a pair from the Surplus place here in town( I think they were Swedish) they worked great and snow would pretty much brush off and not soak thru. Some how hanging in the closet 20 years they have shrunk up pretty bad. Not sure what happened.
