I will be back in that stand the next time the wind is right. I need a "good dog" my beagle has found a few but the last couple years he has even acted interested. I also made a mistake by not aiming for the heart. Years of shooting tournament with all types of bow I aimed for the lungs. H...

Well the news didn't get any better. I searched until 2:30 today doing a tight grid search. Then I decided the meat would be bad by now and gave up the search. I know that bigger buck is there and didn't want to continue to put sent into the woods. I hate this feeling and have only had one other I d...

Crying the blues because I'm not seeing RED

Got in the tree at 4 and at 5:00 I see a deer walking a field edge about 75 yards away and can tell it is either a big 8 or nice 10. It ate under a persimmon tree for15 minutes and started walking away so I grunted and he would look but that was all. Then he came to about 55 yards but was screened b...

In the fog I had one at 10 yds but he saw me before I could see him/her. all I saw was a body turn and leave. Later I saw 3 doe about 80 yds away. Then at 9:00 to scraggly skinny does walked within 2 feet of my ladder. I let them pass. That is probably it for the day as I am going to celebrate my Gr...

I must be a bad guy because I would shoot her and think of her as just as big a trophy as a huge buck. They are legal here in Tennessee. Albino's are not legal here but only because someone with power thought they were "cute" A biologist will tell you they are usually of inferior genetics.

I have seen scraps kept open until march and saw they reworked starting in early September. Some scrapes will be used like signpost rubs and every deer that passes it checks it out either by using it or smelling it in the air as they pass it. Good thing you didn't show them the big one Wes or Crazyf...

Do what you guys want but in my humble opinion for a buck the only thing that should get counted for points is in fact the number of points that exceed 1". Spread measures nothing but AIR. No bone in it. I will take a Tall long tine 8 point over a wide short tine 8 point any day. Either way I w...

Book review "The Doorway Buck"

I just finished this book and its great. The writer is one of the best I have come across. The detail in the writing is great and the story is one that is inspiring. I recommend this book to everyone. Buy one for yourself and any young man coming of age. You can read a good part online before buying...

Can I make one suggestion? The "contest standings" post be a sticky at the top. Then Crazyfarmer can just edit the same post each time he updates it. From my experiences on other boards this makes it easier for everyone to keep track and know which team to talk smack too lol. Then of cours...

When it comes to eating fish Walleye is my favorite but crappie and small catfish are tied for a close second. I catch a lot of bass but they are all released. Big cats get released too. I enjoy the fight even more than eating them.
