First Crossbow Kills

I wasn't able to hunt opening day (yesterday), but I made up for it today. I killed a couple of does with my Exomax this morning, and I am very impressed with xbow.Image

Re: Effective Crossbow Yardage

Hey nice dog!! I would do the same with my lab here in Ontario, but we have dumb ass laws about using our dogs to track wounded animals in the southern part of the province. In the north part of Ontario you can use dogs to track :? Well, we have the same dumb law in my part of Texas, but I am not g...

Re: Effective Crossbow Yardage

When hunting I set markers out to 30 yds if my prey comes into that kill zone I take the shot if it does not, then no shot taken I would rather pass on an bad hit than spend the night tracking. I completely agree. I don't want to ever just wound a deer. Tracking is not a problem though because I ha...

Re: Effective Crossbow Yardage

Thanks for the advice! I have a stand set up that should suit xbow hunting pretty well. My longest shot would be about 30 yards. As loud as my bow is, I was afraid that the deer might jump the string. A few years ago, my son was shooting an old Onieda bow that he inherited from my Dad, and he had a ...

Effective Crossbow Yardage

I am completely new to crossbows, and I just received the Exomax that I bought from Sneak yesterday. I have been able to shoot it a few time between jobs, and from what I can tell, it is screaming accurate. I am already shooting one hole groups at 20 yards, and my plan is to move the target out to 3...

Re: Scope Question

Don't base you use on that thread, there are several thousand very happy Varizone and Lumizone users out there. The scope is a perfect match for the bow. If you have a Leupold sitting around, by all means use it though! You may want to consider sending it back to Leupold and let them know your inte...

Re: Scope Question

Thanks for the replies! My Dad just got an Ibex and was talked into buying the package deal with the Lumizone scope, and I had never heard of that brand and did a little homework on it. The reviews are pretty mixed. From shooting it and handling it only once, it appears to be a decent scope, but I p...

Scope Question

I am new here and just getting my first crossbow, and I have read the thread about the Lumizone scope problems. Is there any reason that I can't mount a Leupold VX-III 1.5-5 illuminated scope on my crossbow? I have been told that the recoil is "different" than a rifle and will be harder on...
