Re: O/T favorite hunting caliber
I have owned many over the years and still have several... but the .243 is just about perfect for the critters of the south. Just a joy to shoot with almost no recoil and for what ever reason, it kills way better than one would think. The Hornady 95 grain SST dropped this boar hog like he had been ...

Re: Passing it on
I think I mentioned I gave my neighbor kid my 330 Matrix. This is a newer neighbor that has his dad teaching him, and his brother on a young man's salary. Anyway, the older boy is 10 now, and today I showed him how to do the shrink on fletchings. His father just buys arrows so he was amazed at the ...

Re: Which Scope
Update... Well. I went with the Hawke XB (fixed 3x) As mentioned in the replies that I received, simplicity, rugged, and reliability, are the main thing... I do not need all the bells and whistles, a Scope with a name that I can not pronounce, or that costs 2 paychecks! This will be the first time,...

Re: Need hunting truck
Any of the locals here in Ontario know where I may find a 2500 Chevy or gm 4x4 with 6 or 6.2 litre Not looking for fancy just want to Work and hunt and no way about to buy new 2010 to 2014 I don't know what it is like in Canada, but dealerships in Wisconsin are desperate for good used pickup trucks...

Re: Which Scope
Check excalibur scope. On ebay. Some nice deals. A decent scope is averaging $150 Better scope is $200 Premium can run 300 + 80 % of accurate kill shots is the scope! Better the optics , clearer the sight picture. I agree with non cluttered reticle for simple 30 40 yrd shots. I hunt the woods , rar...

Re: Which Scope
My basic most important personal criteria for a scope is simplicity l don't want to be looking out at a fishnet looking reticle.....simple crosshairs and mini circles are just fine ...no need to reinvent the wheel. Next would be compactness. I've been looking through various scopes mounted on vario...

Re: Which Scope
Excellent point! Nikon scopes were a good value.flightattendant100 wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 5:35 amWhere are y’all ordering all these Nikon P3scopes from since Nikon is out of scope business?
I've been very happy with my Nikon range finder.
Vortex CROSSFIRE® II 2-7X32 CROSSBOW looks like a nice choice. but it's not a fixed scope.

Re: Equipment Failure
This morning, while I was enjoying my coffee, I received a telephone call. The lady said she was calling from Intel Computers. It had been noticed that my computer had been performing in ways that was causing concern. She asked if I had noticed that my computer was acting strangely. Did it seem at ...

Re: How many broadheads?
I think my younger brother has use Thunderheads for 30+ years. He doesn't change things much. I think he would still own/use his first compound bow, but his first one split in half on him. That was an all wooden Browning compound. The wooden riser snapped in two when he pulled it back for the first ...

Re: Field Test for CWD Being Developed
It doesn't sound to me like it is a "field test" every hunter can buy, but rather a "field test" where testing can be done by professionals at the check in station or what have you so tissue does not have to be sent to a lab. Any test that can be done with somewhat quick results...

Re: Field Test for CWD Being Developed
CWD first appeared or was noticed about the time I bought my 72 acres of woods in SW Wisconsin in 2002. 18 years later (November/2020) I had my first positive deer (nice 8 point buck taken during the opening day of gun season). A very good friend has had two positives (2019 positive buck/opening day...

No Excalibur dealers in my area either. Closest one is probably 175 miles away in one direction. Drawing should have been online! The Internet shows an Excalibur dealer 62 miles from my house in Canton, Texas. I've been in that shop. Not a SINGLE Excalibur in there for sale.
