I think releasing pigeons or pheasants to train a dog is different than releasing an animal for a waiting, paying hunter. I would hardly think that anyone would consider training a dog like this as hunting. How long are the animals allowed to roam prior to the hunter goes off in search? I've heard o...

None of the Excalibur crossbow or any crossbow or vertical bow will drop them where they stand, unless they are hit in the spine. However this is not the target one should intentionally seek when using archery gear. As Woodsman said, the lungs are the biggest and best target to shoot for. In additio...

I thought some of the footage could be fuel for the anti's. Sorry, just my opinion. There's a clip of a guy hunting moose, in Quebec I believe. The guy shoots the moose at about 20-25 yards with a 30.06. As the moose starts running after the initial shot, he shoots twice more. At the third shot the ...

Mark, Don't be surprised if the first bear that walks into your bait looks huge. Last year I had a bear come in, first time for me, and I thought this bear is what I'm looking for, a real good sized boar. I had taken a decent sized sow the previous year (4.5 foot), but she was in a tree and I was on...

I much prefer being on the ground, one on one with the animals. As Richard said it allows you to be more mobile. I was close enough to several deer last fall that they were within crossbow range. Mostly does, but also a couple of bucks, one which I unfortunately wounded due to poor judgement. The on...

I would not have the confidence to shoot any firearm at fifty yards with groups larger than three inches off a bench rest, especially when shooting at game animals. When shooting off a rest you have the most control, and should therefore have the best results from shooting. Now take the three inch g...

RichardS, Depending on how and what you are cooking the smoke ovens will cook the food. Smaller pieces like fish fillets or jerky can be cooked in a commercially available smoker. Larger items, like a roast, may be put in the smoke oven with some wood chips to get the smoke flavour into the meat, bu...

Richard, Congrats on the new crossbow! Although it may be difficult to hunt in Europe with one, it should be a pleasure shooting the finest crossbow made. Perhaps a Canadian safari might be in your future, where you could come and hunt with your crossbow. Maybe even with some of the guys on this for...
