Re: compound vs recurve

OMG! My exocet is a monster. I put the scope on it today and I didnt even have to adjust anything. Being 6'2" tall I still find I have to shorten the cocking string to get it cocked. i am thinking it is just my bad elbow and shoulder, but once shortened not a problem. My compound crossbow does...

what's wrong with changing to a target bolt and shooting at a target? Gives me a little practice between hunting. Half hour past sunset I'm putting the xbow in the case. I might then be an hour or more from my truck / target backstop. I don't like hauling the cocked xbow on my back or shoulder whil...

I'm currently shooting Excalibur's Easton 2219s, in stock config, with 125 gr field tips / mechanical broadheads, from my Phoenix. The Varizone is dialed in at the lowest setting to get the 2219s in the bullseye at 40 yds. I have no problems at all with accuracy / groupings and am amazed at the punc...

My grandrather had the same surgery back in the mid '70s, in Hamilton. He was great for another 20 years. Hamilton is a leader in heart surgery development. I can't think of a better place in Ontario for it. Prayer helps tho, so I just did.

Back to the topic at hand. I've heard exactly what the 2posts above are saying. The detector is useless. The viewer on the other hand, is wickedly effective. With the thermal viewer you can see where they bedded down for the night, follow tracks a deer recently walked and pick up a deer thru thick s...

I use around 380 gr in my Phoenix. That seems to be the best compromise between speed and noise for my bow. A little heavier is fine, but much lighter and the noise/vibration increases quite a bit. What combination are you using to get to 380 gr Wabi? What fps are you getting with this setup? TIA, ...

Dunno... but they are illegal to use in Indiana for any deer hunting purpose.. We can use tracking dogs on a leash though.. Do they require that the tracking dog be licensed? If so, could it be that they figure they can't make money with a technological solution to recovering game so they prohibit ...

I just checked the regs online. Crossbow hunting has been opened up almost everywhere in Quebec and shares the same seasons as bow. But for Caribou there is no Crossbow hunting in zones 17, 22, 23, and 24. But the regs go on to talk about some zones having special rules in place for certain zecs or ...

Re: darwal44

Good idea. But then I'll have to shot an arrow in my yard to uncocked. I hope I won't hit any stone. No you don't. Excalibur has instructions and (video if I'm not mistaken) of how to uncock without shooting. You can do it by hand but it's a heck of a lot easier with the rope cocking aid. I never t...

No crossbows allowed up there apparently. According to Gov. Quebec website, "In Zones 22 and 23, hunting with a bow or firearm is permitted, whereas hunting with a crossbow is prohibited for all hunting. " Too bad, Maple I thought I heard talk of them opening up the xbow province wide nex...

Online Canadian Archer Supply Shops

I'm looking for the good, the bad, and the ugly.

What online archery shops are other Canadians using, and which ones to avoid.

I'm perusing http://www.nationalarcherysupply.com right now and they seem to be pretty decent.

I'm looking at buying arrows and parts, fletching jigs etc.

TIA,

Tom
