Re: Whats The Pros And Cons Of Scopes VS Red Dots

The Hawke 1.5-5 IR SR is a reasonably priced scope that both magnifies and a lighted reticule .... for hundreds less than the Leupie. And it is crossbow specific so that the power ring changes the distance between the aiming points of the reticule to match the trajectory of the arrow. Red dots have ...

Re: Interesting new broadheads.

After 2 premature deployments using banded Grim Reaper Whitetail Specials, I'm switching to a crossbow specific broadhead for my 350+ bow: Killzone Crossbow. The former worked great in my slower bow (315 fps) but could not withstand the surge of the faster bow. They opened and resulted in wounded an...

Re: New trigger

I would use LocTite very judiciously on the trigger screws, if at all. I'd use blue or , better yet, purple (easier to break loose). Loc Tigh film can be broken using heat but those screws are quite small and easily stripped. You might put a bit on the screws -and let it dry- before inserting them.

Re: Dumb Question: Why Don't We Eat Yotes?

It's a matter of our "culturation." Remember seeing kittens in cages at a market in 'Nam. Thought they were for pets, until a more knowledgeable grunt called em supper. Same reason we don't eat horse, which is some of the tastiest meat around .. much like moose.

Re: M405 an Mechanical Broadheads

Having had two premature deployment incidents recently -using a banded Grim Reaper- I went with a crossbow specific head: The Crossbow Killzone. Some of the thickest blades I've found (.039"), 2" cut and a retention system that will withstand the surge of a 405. Using Slick Tricks and Spit...

Re: Nikon Bolt XR Crossbow Scope

It's a 3X scope and advertised as (up to) 350 fps. That makes it marginal for your application if using a relatively light arrow. The aiming points are relatively small making them difficult to see in low light., esp since the reticule is not lighted. Take a gander at the Hawke 1.5-5 X32 IR SR (in e...

Re: Newbie with questions

The limbs will relax as the string stretches causing the bowsting to migrate toward the riser. It can actually come off when shot if it's too low. You'll need a Stringer to adjust it. Use it to hold the limbs partially cocked while the string is twisted up to shorten it. Good idea to twist the strin...

Re: poi change

stick on limb dampeners, slow the limbs down a bit. reducing FPS. when you removed them you GAINED a few fps, probably accounting for your change in 20 yd POI. Couldn't agree more. ANY weight on string, limbs or arrow reduces speed by roughly 1 fps for every 3 grains of weight added. And, does very...

I like Firenocks. Not only of high quality (dependability) but I can use em with or without the lighting module in my arrow.

Re: Glue for Inserts

Hot melt. I too like the option of being able to remove insert if desired. Holds well regardless of temp. Have had some superglued inserts come loose when exposed to below freezing conditions and with age. If I did use a SG it'd be Gorilla brand, it's latex fortified so don't get brittle like some.

Re: What things have you come across ,hunting

I was hunkered down in my ladder bright and early one late fall day awaiting the buck I knew was there. I hear leaf noises coming my way but too steady for one deer, figured it was a doe and her suitor, 'my' buck. Instead out walks a COLLIE trailed by an orange cat, like the best of friends. They wa...
