I picked up a suggestion from one of these boards that I was prepared to try last year if we'd shot a moose. It was a battery operated reciprocating saw, I picked one up a Princess Auto for a reasonable price. The recommendation was to use as long a blade as you can get in order to reach all the way...

I dropped in today for the first time in about a month, and was shocked to read this thread. I never met Mike, but bought a bow from him last summer, and he impressed me as being a real class act. Having read many of his posts, I know he will be sorely missed around here. My deepest condolences go o...

I have one on my Horton, and it does the job OK. I have it zeroed at 27 yds which gives me a point blank range of 18 to 33 yds. I don't like the Varizone-type scopes, because you get into the habit of trying to hit an exact spot, and calculating how many tics above or below the horizontal cross-wire...

If we wait long enough, someone will probably start up a "William Tell Club" to keep the records of crossbow kills only.

This is the type of issue that's very divisive among hunters when we should be looking towards unity. It's easy to say that "Those out-of-towners" shouldn't be able to hunt my deer (or moose) when I can't get a tag. This is a very selfish attitude in my opinion, and could lead to a real la...

First hunted small game with a .22 in 1956 when I was 10 years old. This year makes 49 seasons.

983 + 49 = 1032

GA:

I bought a flat tool box similar to diggers in Walmart. It's made for putting behind a truck seat, and is in the automotive dept. Now I just have to find out where I can get black foam.

Bolts and Broadheads

I'm hoping some of you will give me your thoughts on what bolts and broadheads to use for moose (and deer) hunting. As you may have noticed I recently bought an Exomag from Red Label. It arrived today, and now I'm looking for a good combination of bolts and broadheads for moose (and deer) hunting. I...

The zones with the most tags are 63B, 64A and 64B. These areas are primarily private land, and the farmers there are the ones complaining about deer numbers - however very few will give permission to hunters. What they seem to want is a carte blanche to shoot as many deer as they want for their own ...
