I think they are declining for one reason. Predators. Rabies have been just about eliminated in Ontario, and the coyotes can be heard everyday. The fox populations have never been higher. At one time every field in the country had groundhog dens in it. When I was younger we would cruise the backroad...

Good News.. Bad News

First for the bad news. Had to work this week ( like any other week ) so I couldn't turkey hunt. Now the GOOD news. My new VORTEX and Right Stuff package were delivered to my wife's workplace today! Just like Christmas. Sweet Sweet hat too. My poor old Boo string has been waiting for this day.

bstout.. " you'se guys " That's a good one. We use that around here too. We've always lived in the country, so if the kids were involved in any extra activities, we either had to drive them, or when they got old enough they drove themselves. When my daughter went to college her roomies wou...

That's It ! I've had enough!

That's it. You guys are killing me. I'm not reading anymore " Tagged out" or " Done for the season" topics. I'm going to give it to them this weekend really hard, and ignore those topics until I get one myself. Unless someone can mask their topic like putting it under the " ...

Thanks for the info guys. Great link Wabi. Probably by the time I get back to the cabin they'll be done. They already looked to be about 6" tall. But I'll be ready for next year. The leeks are looking good. I caught some walleye on the weekend and saved the cheeks. Going to have some cheek-leek...

At one time ( when me and my buddies were at lot younger and tougher) we all would reload crazy wicked fast loads that would pound the crap out of anything at both ends. Finally I realized that for a lot of my hunting a long shot was probably well under a hundred yards. Where I deer and moose hunt w...

Fiddleheads

Me and my sweetie were at our cabin for the weekend, and when we were coming home I was stopping to do a little roadwork with a rake and shovel on some of the potholes. Colleen asked me " are those fiddleheads? " . They sure looked like them, but I didn't know if all types of ferns produce...

Yeah I use tide laundry soap. Change my clothes immediately. Went to rubber boots so there wouldn't be any laces. ( got infected that way too ) I scrub the rubber boots with hot soapy water, and then into the tub. What we won't do to persue our interests!

That's true, Farmer. I always thought I was immune too. But I was always coming into contact with it after my beagles would run through it. They'ed have the oil on their coats and I would get it when I handled or petted them. Eventually I'd be getting a good dose of it every year.
