Glad to hear that as I just traded my Equinox (too much bow for my aging back) for the Exocets' thumbhole stocked brother the Vortex.

Had two in the past 7 yrs, last one 4 yrs ago. He may be able to climb into the stand but not haul one. Definitely not drag or lift a deer. He also may need to change the way he cocks his bow. Just traded my Equinox (225 draw weight) of 3 months, cocking too hard on my back. I tried a crankaroo but ...

I've shortened my string too. Found it easiest to leave the cocker on bow that way while 4 wheeling to stand. Thanks for reply.

Bush, did you notice much difference between cocking effort between the Exocet and Phoenix? (The Exocet is essentially the Vortex sans thumbhole stock).

Don't give up, there are some screwy rules out there. Some cashiers even make up their own. I'm asked if the 22 shells I purchase at Wall-Mart will be used in a handgun. I'm 67 years old. To the best of my knowledge there is no law to that affect in Minnesota. I simply say " Of course not. A ha...

If you're concerned about lightweight scopes, Burris just put out a heads up display red dot that is only 2-3 inches long and weights just ozs.

Fastflight Flemish strings increase velocity of my Carbon Express with 4" vanes by about 20 fps from my Equinox. Have not as yet chroned the same bolt with 2" vanes, they (seem) even faster.

I'm using a cocking aid and a crankaroo. The rope isn't bad until the last two inches or so. At that stage I really have to reef on it to get it cocked. The mechanical cocker is a pita to use; not to mention creaks and groans that make me wonder if it will break. (Rope lasted only 20 or so pulls bef...

Equinox/Vortex cocking effort

Anyone compare the effort to pull the Equinox to the Vortex? The longer stock on the Equinox is giving my back fits, apparently from pulling that last two inches or so when the most resistance occurs. I like the higher velocity of the Equinox; the pain in the back next day, not so much.

String length

Do the Equinox and Vortex use the same length of Flemish string, despite the latter having 1" shorter power stroke?

I (think) the arrows are carbon bolts made by Carbon Express using 5" plastic vanes. The string is Flemish fast flite. In fact it does seem to increase speed. By Equinox shoots an average 15 fps faster with it.

Cool, indeed. My own is in 45 Colt. Hangs on my hip whenever I'm scouting, esp where the bear hunters frequent.
