Re: Deer Hunting in a Blizzard??

Just before and just after a storm seems to be the best for me. I think the only negative factor of a storm is the wind. You can have a lot of snow or rain coming down and see deer however it seems to me that if the wind is blowing in the 20 mph range and up the deer hunker down until it lessens. I ...

Re: Windy, 3 legged coyote down

Love it great story and pictures. The fact that this yote has three legs is always intriguing to me. Back in the early 70's there was an old guy upnorth not far from our cabin that had a 200 mile trapline. He used to use a snowmobile to cover the distance. He had a large cable running from a tree to...

Re: Are You Tough Enough?

I hate to even write this but yes. Went up to my cottage upnorth and left my rope cocker downstate on my work bench. I didn't relize it until I went to shoot a few practice shots before going out to hunt. I knew it would hurt my hands as I had hand cocked my Exomax before when I owned it. Went to t...

Re: 2016 Models - Not impressed.

That one bolt will hold a 1000 lbs just the thread strength, double that at least for shear strength...If you want to worry look at the other end of the bow and observe the lowly string holding back 260 lbs. Even that string can hold I would think in excess of 400-500 lbs.

Re: matrix380 safe storage unused

I have always unstrung my Exomax and now 380 during the off season however I have learned from this site that this is not required. So my plan this year is to install my new string on my 380 and allow it to stretch during the off season checking the brace height occasionally of course to maintain a ...

Re: First Pass At Bolt Building

Great job!! nice looking bolts /arrows. Been making my own arrows since the late 60's. I have stayed with aluminum after trying wood, fiberglass and carbon for a few years. I make and use 2216 XX75 Easton shafts for my current 380 Matrix and love them. I personally cannot find a reason to use anythi...

Re: What frame do yous hunters prefer?

Well I prefer the aluminum but not really sure why..lol I guess old ideas die hard. I have always owned steel guns either handguns and or long guns. However I purchased a Glock 26 about 20 years ago somewhat hesitant at the time to do so because its a "plastic" handgun. I have to say I hav...

Re: Range finder Christmas gift ideas

My son and I both currently have Nikon Aculon rangfinders and like them alot. We have owned Bushnell but like the Nikon better. Fast, small, very clear, accurate and when on sale a great deal in my opinion.
