Finally got to test the Phoenix on a deer!

A doe at 5:00 this evening from my pop-up blind at about 8 yards broadside. The new Phoenix shooting GoldTip laser 2s with a G-5 Montec and a total arrow weight of 380 grains (294 - 298 fps). Good shot - good hit and then the rain arrived. :(
Luckily she didn't go far, and recovery was short, but wet! I was soaked and didn't get any pics, but she's in the processor's cooler now! :D
Now I'll have to go back & look for the arrow & the call I lost :o
The Phoenix seems to be a great crossbow. Accuracy like all the Excaliburs I've owned, very good arrow velocity, and a nice compact bow carry & shoot. And now it's been put through the paces - killed a deer :D and had it out in the rain :( but it's dried off and resting comfortably tonight, which is what I'm about to do myself!

Congrats!!!

I almost wacked off another last night at 4 mins till shooting time was up, then caught the glint of antlers in my scope and put the safety back on since I already got my buck. It was in the four point range.

Thanks for all the congratulations everyone!
As for the rain, I didn't exactly plan it that way but it looked like I was going to have some time before it hit. I hadn't much more than pulled the trigger when the cloudburst hit :cry: Luckily she was hit well enough she didn't go far. Went about 20 yards, stood for a few minutes and then moved another 20 or 30 yards before she laid down. There was almost no blood left to follow, but she moved into the woods and disturbed enough of the leaves to make tracking fairly easy.
All dried off and rested up now, and even picked up another tag so I can go back out this evening. I'll look for the missing call, and maybe even see a buck now that the pressure is off and I'm in no hurry :D
